GIVE A Price Idea On Website Design For AN Airline Company

A CEO of a very big firm have asked me to prepare a presentation and quote for a website design for an airline company that will also accept online booking and online payment. Definitely, this is a big project but I don't really know what I should price for it. The presentation will be between the next 2 weeks and I need to arm myself with enough ideas in order to face the company directors and investors.

Check out the following websites for an idea the kind of site they will need:

Kenya Airways - The Pride of Africa

Plane Tickets, Flights And Airfares | Virgin America

Airkiosk Internet Reservations system and kiosk

My dream has always been getting big deals from BUSINESS ELITES, and in the past 2 months; I got out off my comfort zone and start prospecting very hard. I've close more business deals from big firms because I COLD CALL, Send out Bulk Mail Letters, Walk into Offices randomly and also advertise my Offline Consulting Firm Online. The Result is Amazing.

Its not about sitting with the Computer for 10 hours a day that matters, its the amount of sales you're able to close that matters most because that's where the money come from. Stop reading from one eBook to Another and Start Prospecting. Listen, what we fear most does not exist. My Fear has always been that I will be embarass if I start prospecting door to door or cold call. But I was wrong and that has made me loose some Grand. But now I know better, Successful People Work very HARD and SMART. Its only when we get out of our comfort zone that we're ready to make it.

My Warrior Friends, Start giving me IDEAS. WARRIORS RULES.....

I'd find a programmer who can recreate the functionality of what you're looking for. Just give them the URL, like you did above, and see what they quote you at.

Then, whatever price they give you, triple it and that's the number you can give them.

Make that the down payment. And then add $40,000 to it. :p

Remember...you can't negotiate up. Don't be stupid and leave a yearly salary for most people on the table here.

Myself I was thinking more like $100k+. You have to tie into a lot of their systems. You are looking at a project that should have a team working on it for a few months. Also they will need maintenance and quality 24/7 hosting with zero down time. This should be a huge contract to do it right.

Though why is a CEO contacting you on this? Hell don't they have at least a VP of Marketing (still too high of a contact IMO) or someone else handling this project?

    Good luck on closing them.

Sounds fishy, and I know for a fact it isn't one of the major players here in the US. Those guys are all under UX contracts for the next year or so. There is one where a contract is up within 8 months, but that's the soonest based out of the US.

There def should be a CMO contacting you not a CEO, but I guess that doesn't really matter too much.

I have never heard of an airline spending less than 300K on their website and everything. Most publicly traded companies end up spending half a mill for professionals. People just trying to get into this industry, don't get big accounts like that because they don't know the first thing about even proposing such a thing.

To give an idea... a major national grocery store chain spent 2.3 million on a website and some maintenance... but this isn't the typical crap you just outsource.

The CEO saw one of my Ad on Facebook and gave me a call because my number was on the ad. He personally interviewed me and was so amaze with my confidence and mastery of the web. I sent him a couple of emails with my previous work and also sold him over. Initially, we where discussing about website design for his Construction and Oil and Gas firm. Then he requested if I have the necessary skill to design an Airline Website. Though he also told me his workers where trying to contact another Website Design Firm but he has always protested that he has seen a capable hand that will handle the Job.

As a matter of fact, I'm booked to make a presentation within 2 weeks and I need to gather information's that will help me ensure I do well.

His location would indicate he is in Nigeria, but that does not mean the airline is.

I also get another hot lead from Linkedin. A CEO of a Popular MicroFinance bank who also want to setup another firm. He stop responding to my Linkedin Message and I lost interest. Maybe, I should try again. I've pause my Linkedin AD due to the high cost, $2 per click. Though the leads are usually big and hot...

Did this CEO also give you a complete specification outlining every feature they need this site to have? Without that, it's impossible for anyone here or elsewhere to give you an idea what it would cost.

Considering this is something that would form the core of their business and would probably need to tie into other systems of theirs too, I'd say pricing would start at $50k and how high it goes, depends on just what they need.

And if you haven't already, I'd be looking into getting the proper E&O insurance, because any kind of hiccup with a website of this size could be a disaster for them and for their developer - and it should go without saying that you'd better have a good contract in place too.

Thanks very much. He only told me other sites that has the features he want. I will be recruiting good developers and programmers to get this job done. I will definitely involve my lawyer because a project like this can't be executed without Legal Agreement.
