COLD CALLING TO WEBPAGE SALES. CAN IT WORK?

Happy weekend Warriors!!!

So, here's the deal, my buddy has been selling his unique marketing system to local businesses in Houston, and he finds that he closes more sales when someone asks for "more information" when he sends them to his website to a video page he created as opposed to his in person selling.

He wanted to know my opinion on doing a nationwide cold calling campaign and directing interested parties to his webpage/video. I have no idea since i've never done anything like this before! So, i'd like to know your thoughts on running a campaign like this?

Any update on this? Has he started doing it yet? If so, who is it working?

He just asked me about it this afternoon, so he has not started doing it yet, I was trying to see if anyone else has done it.

When some one asks for more information, it is almost always a blow off
... a way to get you to go away....

a video page is not going to help any more then an email ... a fax .. or any other
        type sales info.

Am i Wrong, did you not say on another thread that you own a telemarketing room?

if that is true... why are you asking the question? Don't you already know the answer?

and if you truly do know the answer... then why ask ?

UPDATE: Spoke to my friend today, and I guess I misunderstood him, he actually closes over the phone and the website is what qualifies the initial lead.

That makes much more sense... and it works very well.

The key is getting the traffic to the capture page.

Your friend sounds like he knows what he is doing,
maybe you should go hang out with him for a few days
and see what you can learn.

This is what most of the companies do. Websites are generally used for bringing or generating leads. Sales are more successful over phone or in face to face meeting.

        So it's a :

Is the website also what gathers the lead, or just what qualifies them? (They get more information and are still interested)
Lead capture page? Are they giving the phone number or calling?
If the prospect is calling, does it go to a voicemail, or does someone answer the phone?
Are the people promised a gift? Or is it strictly to get information.
Do the people know he is going to call? Or is it more of "Instead of mailing you information, I was curious about something you said in the comments..."

        • Of course it will work.
You just need to believe in yourself .
          Heard about Joe Girard?

Yeah, Claude, I just talked to him again, and checked his page, he cold calls them, and builds some interest, he then asks if they would want an appointment if they sound iffy, he then gives them a page like the willr video page, a page that has their business name on it (to be more personal). If they don't go to the page, (he checks), he'll follow a couple times. The video he created has a case study and shows how his "system" works. Then, after they watch, they qualify themselves by putting in a "best contact number" to learn his "exact system". He then follows up with them and closes the sale after they've left the "best contact number". I've asked him to come on here to explain himself and he said he'll be on when he gets a chance.

It's harder to say no on the phone, and even harder face to face. But than it takes a different set of skill to do that.
