How This Ad May Save The Bald Headed Barber

In a another post there was a request to help a friend who is a barber.

I'm working on multiple projects now so I took a break
to flex my mind in another direction,
and here is the result.

Enjoy!
Ewen

Dude you are my hero! I am printing this out and dropping it to him this weekend!

Is there a spin we can put on it like "keep him from paying $20 to check out the hotties at SportClips and get him a real cut for only $9" - or is that too cliche?

      You are welcome!

That will be straying away from the woman's voice speaking to another woman.

Let me know more details about your friend and I can write the whole thing.

      Best,
      Ewen

Wouldn't it be better to wait for the OP's results before you run out and copy it?! What if it flops???

I know Halbert once said there isn't any problem that a good sales letter can't cure. But he also researched his client like mad before coming up with a strategy. What's the research here? From what I've read, it sounds like this barber has an out of date shop in a low traffic / not visible area, and no money to market with, no money to put into his shop. Yelp reviews for his area show the two leading shops have comp drinks, multiple flat screen tv's showing sports and cute girls cutting hair. A sales letter promising a better haircut for $11 less may not be sufficient.

In fact, maybe a $9 haircut is looked on as suspect?
Maybe guys in Lubbock Texas prefer cute girls over bald headed guys?
Maybe the shop's location influences perception of his business?
Maybe outdated foosball tables and old tv's don't inspire confidence? Lack appeal?

All I'm saying is it does sound as if there are fundamental things that need fixing first. Bringing people in, if that's successful, may just increase awareness of the existing conditions.

I know the barber said he exists on word of mouth... but maybe a lot of his wom isn't the good kind. Have you found out what people are saying about him that he doesn't know? I know I suggested an entire change to his business model based on demographics in his area, but perhaps that's the place to start. Find out what needs fixing first.

    Well said misterme.

Sorry, but I personally do not see that sales letter doing much for him. The thought of going to a bald headed barber does not make me want to go there for a hair cut.

That ad, or sales message is directed to a group who have a problem
and you are not in that group...

not because you have said no to it...

but because you were never selected as being in that group.

The specific group I wrote to are women who
get irritated, at times, of their man being a bit scruffy.

The sales message is geared to them and nobody else.

      Best,
      Ewen

P.S. I've just wrote a post about this subject here http://www.warriorforum.com/offline-...g-because.html
