Advice Needed with a Client

I've been working with a client for a few months who I've been allowing to pay me way below the going rate for web design since I'm just starting out. He recently has been wanting me to do more advanced things for his site which were out of my scope and caused me to use an expert developer.

When my client tried include added tasks for the cost of something which should have been the price of one quick job my developer told me to inform him he shouldn't do that and added it's like going to a restaurant ordering a main dish, then a desert and expecting the desert to come free. (which I kind of agree with) I informed my client added tasks would cost extra and now he suddenly doesn't like the work my developer did and won't pay for things he thought could be bundled into one cost.

Not sure if I should drop him or get a cheaper designer or what now... He's being charged very low fees for these things.

Any advice appreciated

      Like a bad habit bro, just get rid of him.
      There are plenty of real customer that will pay you what you are worth.

    Ah, the need for a strong up front contract...

    And don't discount your services. They can't do what you do. All it's going to result in is a beat-up self-esteem for you and a potentially negative mark on your reputation.

    Play your game, not his. I know customers are always right, but not to the point that would compromise you on one end. Try to negotiate with the pay that you think is fair. If he doesn't agree, then consider dropping him, otherwise, you're not going to have a healthy working relationship. You can't work effectively if you're carrying such burden on your end.

      Thanks for the advice all!

      Wrote to him an email givngsome suggestions about coming up with a contract for future work and just got a response that from him saying he want's to speak via phone... slightly worried what that conversation might entail.

      Hopefully he isn't mad and wants his money back...
