General SEO vs Local SEO

Ok I might have posted this already but I cant seem to find it so i will try again. Anyway I was wondering if you guys offer normal SEO or do you mostly offer Google plus local? I (correct me if im wrong) figured that for local business keywords will always include a city or town in them. So is it ok to assume that jumping to Google places is the best service to offer?

Of course, I'm a little biased LOL but I am convinced that the best ROI for local business is in the G+ Local listings.

When I first started consulting, I did local seo on websites and just ignored the Google + Local listings (the Google Places). After I invested in some G+ Local education and got A-Slots for my clients, I never went back... they were so thrilled with the increase in business I was a believer. Keep in mind, though... the local listings are heavily impacted by website seo, so you need to have the complete package.

I do a mixture of both - but it depends on the business. I'm assuming we're talking about a local service provider (plumber, electrician, etc...). If that's the case, I usually sell them on Google+, Organic SEO and PPC campaign.

I've seen some markets where a majority of the clicks come from PPC, just depends on the demographic your targeting. For instance, if you're targeting an older community of people, offering air conditioning repair services, then doing PPC might be more effective.

I'm all about "total coverage" though. There are 10 organic listings and upto 11 spots in PPC on a Google search page... My goal is to try and list the company in as many spots in that first page as possible.

Forget about SEO, the Big Bad Panda and Penguin killed it. What about the next black and white gorilla that's lurking? Local business are constantly bombarded with SEO consultants. I would not run a business that relies on third party approval (Google).

Forget about SEO? Panda and Penguin killed it? I think you misunderstand what SEO does.

Perhaps you were one that believed spamming thousands of forum profile links were actually beneficial. Those that are smart about SEO, never had any problems. The ones effected, are mostly from this very forum, because of all the incorrect information being passed along.

SEO is very alive. The question is, is SEO more efficient and better for businesses than PPC?

SEO cannot be killed by anyone, google's penguin and panda updates only affected its rythm but can't kill it. you can see local seo is growing day by day. After few months you will see that SEO will again back in new form. Just wait n watch...... only fake SEO guys will quit it real SEO will never change their way.

I don't am not sure is there any thing like local seo , SEO is done for google to make our site rank in top 10. The keyword selection for the new website i think should be localized cause it helps in securing high rank easily as it lowers the competition in google .

If you will work on Local SEO for your business you will also put an effort on your organic campaign. Local SEO is only 50% of the equation, LOCAL SEO + ORGANIC SEO = TOP OF GOOGLE MAPS RANKING.

Focus on whatever YOU feel most comfortable with. If you want to offer help to LOCAL businesses (mom and pop shops), then go with G+ Local, but if you want to work with some more prestigious companies with reach outside of your local area, then shoot for a national seo campaign.

For the local stuff, I would definitely go with a combination of a highly optimized G+ Local listing (tagging images, videos, good description, etc.) and then be sure the actual website has good ON PAGE seo (quality content, tagged images, descriptions, etc.).

If you have a nice mix of both of the above and build up some high quality links (OFF PAGE seo), you should be headed in the right direction.
