Cold Calling: Outsourcing the Prospecting Duties

Hi All;

I'm thinking of outsourcing the prospecting process to someone in the Philippines. The plan is to use this person to set appointments for me--which I will then close myself.

A script will be provided to the appointment setter, as well as ongoing feedback and training. I should also note that I'm prepared to rehire until I find someone who'll tough it out.

To the phone veterans out there: Do you like this idea or do you think it's destined to fail?

Thanks!

Not a bad idea, i think. If you think they can do it better for you, no harm to outsourcing.

You get what you pay for. American businesses pick up QUICKLY on any accent. We are US native and have lived here all our lives, and even West coast or Northern states pick up on a twang if I'm not careful. Accents aren't bad if you can converse in an normal manner, and with overseas appointment setters it's hard to get someone that can make your clients feel that they are connected if they can't get with them on a personal level. I can't tell you how many appointments we've gotten BECAUSE we could small talk about family, kids, jobs, weather IN country, locations, where we grew up, local places and small talk. I'm not saying every call, but there are those talkative people.

Also, if you hire the right people, you don't have to train them, and they will give YOU feedback...it's the difference in what you want to pay for.

It may be best to get english speakers only because the communication needs to be optimal, if they are fumbling it reflects back on you... I bought a 100 links from an overseas provider and only got around 30 or so. These overseas companies are sometimes dishonest because they are really far away

They can afford to fumble a bit "after" they get a commitment for a phone appointment.

Dont try to get them to close on the phone, it wont work. you dont pay them enough money to get that kind of work ethic, to where they are going to master a long pitch. Most warriors will not be able to fork down 10 grand to train even a small team (2-3) foreign telemarketers for two months.

Here's the only way to make it work.

    "Make it easy for them".

Have them set a phone appointment.

Establish interest or not within three lines.

If interest is even relatively there, Immediately start assuming the appointment.

At this point they are at about 5-6 speaking lines.

If there is not interest they can move on.

Give them 3 sentences to master, to establish interest and make the pitch easy on them.

After they have nailed the guy for an appointment they can further qualify, because the guy wont back out after he has already said yes....they can fumble all they want.

But if you try to give an outsource a long pitch....you wont have enough money to get them through the development curve. If you cant run appointments, have them set phone appointments for you.
