A new way to contact decision makers?

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned here before, but I have been having success with a new (to me) method of contacting decision makers for small businesses. Recently I have been joining a lot of local facebook yard sale type groups. I think almost every little town has at least one. A lot of small businesses use these groups to promote their businesses. Two days ago I started messaging the business facebook pages that I saw posting in these groups. Typically I use a free offer like a free marketing program analysis or a free 30 second video to hook them with the intent of upselling them on some other services. So far I have messaged 25 pages and gotten 7 replies. Of those 7 replies I upsold 2 clients on additional services.

It seems pretty logical. In most small businesses the owner probably manages the business facebook account right? I know I do. Plus, their facebook page is WAY less likely to be filled with other sales offers and spam. So far I haven't gotten any negative replies so I think I will keep using this method of contacting business owners.

Any thoughts? Concerns?

I think that is a good idea - definitely one of many approaches to use. I have started using Facebook to get names of business owners after finding the company on yellow pages.

If you are on their page anyway, might as well shoot them a message to establish contact.

    Hi there,

    Thanks for the post.

What do you mean exactly by yard sale groups? Do you have an example?

    Thanks for your time anyway.

Go to Facebook and look up Poplar Bluff Yard Sale.
That page is owned by Ben Adkins.
