Howdy...because the following Marketing Technique has been SO productive for me, I thought I'd give it better exposure rather than being buried in a post.

When I sell "Info" products to OffLine prospects I usually use Snail Mail (PostCards or Flyers getting prospects to PHONE my "FREE Recorded Message at 555-1234 x123".....and, to those interested enough to leave their Name and Mailing Address....rather than just sending them my Sales Letter...selling Info on a CD....I send them the Actual CD! along with my sales letter.

However....I encrypt the CD which LOCKS it and....at the end of my Sales Letter I tell them they can order by phoning my Order Service AND....rather than WAIT for the CD or WONDER if and when it's coming...I tell them...THEY ALREADY HAVE IT! It's in the enclosed CD, but it's been encrypted and...when they order they will be given the KEY that UnLocks the CD....so they can have the info IMMEDIATELY!...no waiting or wondering when it will come or IF it will come!

Now....the "psychology" of having the product in their Hands causes a POWERFUL EMOTIONAL REACTION known as; "OVERWHELMING CURIOSITY!" They've GOT TO SEE WHAT'S IN THAT CD!

So...think about putting your Info onto an encrypted CD and Mailing it to your prospects....your sales will go thru the roof!

Who uses CDs anymore? If you have to use this method, use a branded usb-stick and tell the prospects its theirs to use for any data storage needs they might have.

While I hate to say it, your suggestion (as made) sounds like you have no concept of ROI ... $0.20 for a CD vs $x.00 for a memory stick. It may work in some markets, but you didn't say you had split tested the idea.

I wonder how well this would work with an info product delivered online. OK, here is the login page, but to get access you need the password. Voila, the Buy Now button. Sounds like a squeeze page, doesn't it?

The lack of something physical right there in their hands might make it a dud. But the idea of a CD or usb drive is interesting.

It's very unlikely that this will happen.

They will throw it immediately when it's encrypted. Who would bother calling to get password?

If you write a story, you'd better make a logical one.

Really? I have personally tested this and it works even better than Don claims. Maybe you should test things yourself before you claim they don't work, or accuse someone of making up a story.

I started this in the "old" days of Floppies and found that a "Physical" thing IN THEIR HANDS....brought about the emotion of "I GOTTA SEE WHAT'S IN THIS!"

        CDs would probably work also.

Based on you hearing from unknown people on the internet that they have done the testing? That's really priceless.

              No.

Based on me having done this in a different field. Pillock.

Why are there TWO threads featuring this same method ?

And when you say you "encoded" the floppy,,
aren't you just "password protecting" the file on the floppy or CD ?

It's easy to get thank you here. As a matter a fact, I believe that guys with the most count of thank you here are the biggest bullshitters ever. They just hang around on the forums and busy spending their time here posting instead of making things happen.

Why would anyone doubt this would work?

This is similar to the "free 30 day trials" you see on TV all the time.

Once the product is in their hands they want to own it. Why do you think car salesmen try to get you to go on a test drive? So you know how the car handles? No because they know your mind will begin to "own" it.

Of course to make this work you have to convert at a high enough level to justify the costs. But that is what testing is about.

You HIT it On The Head, Aaron!

Nowdays "Info Sellers" make lots of "Offers" to "get prospects INTO the Funnel" by offering Free Trials or $1 for a month, etc. Sellers use the Sense of Sight and Hearing. HOWEVER, the Sellers are missing ONE important Sense....the Sense of TOUCH!

When I turned "Suspects" into "Prospects" ......THEN....HOT PROSPECTS and appealed to their Sense of Touch and the emotion of "Overwhelming Curiosity" (They HAD to KNOW what was inside that disk!)

A lot more Powerful going thru MY "Sales Funnel" than using "OnLine- See and Hear" senses!

Don Alm....still using "Old" Sales Methods because "They WORK"!

You appear to be new here and are also getting the benefit of doubt in spite of your 2008 join date. Most of your last couple of dozen posts seem oriented at trying to create a problem rather than contributing to the community.

But your join date indicates you should be well aware of the rule that if you have a problem with a member, take it up with them rather than clutter up the forum. Most of us are not here to listen to you pontificate on something it appears you know little about.

I think I need to spell it out clearly...

      1) 30 day free trial = give me your credit card first, then 30 days later I will charge it
      2) this technique = i need to call you to unlock the damn CD, why would I bother? I don't know you, I am not interested in putting unnecessary work to get to watch a CD from unknown stranger

      See the difference now?
