Lessons From A 10 Year Old
For those that don't know, it is a thick book filled with coupons to local places. Like fast food restaurants, finer dining restaurants, places for entertainment, sports, golf, travel, retail shops, local services like the movie store, auto change, paint, etc. and car washes.
So when this little girl came she asked if I wanted a book.
I said, "I have to order one right?"
She said "Yes".
I said, "And they're only $20?"
She says, "No actually, they are $30 now."
I said, "Okay, well I don't have any cash on me, can I come see you when I do"
She said, "Well, you can write a check"
I said, "I don't have checks, sorry. I will tell my wife and have her go see you". Apparently this girl lives down the street.
Well, I forgot all about this little girl and her book.
Today, guess who knocks on my door?
She says, "Hey, my mom said I can sell you this book (it was her sample, still new),
I said, "Oh sorry, I forgot all about the book. I was going to send my wife to see you but forgot. And all I have are $50's right now."
She says, "Well, you can write a check"
I said, "Sorry I don't have checks remember"
She says, " I will go home and get you a $20"
Then she left. No chance for an objection.
She came back less than 10 minutes later panting from riding her bike so fast.
We exchanged the cash and book, and se left.
So, the lesson.
Think about her follow-up. I completely forgot about her.
She showed back up, offered me the book again, and this time I didn't have to order it.
No cash... ok, I will close on checks.
