Dirt Cheap SEO for Chiropractors

I forgot about this, but I talked to a chiropractor yesterday who (when politely turning me down) said I wouldn't believe how much he is paying for his SEO.

And I don't. Because he said it was $90/month and he said he was really satisfied too!

Of course I understand that there are people doing things very cheap out there, and he'll get what he pays for and all that, but have any of you heard of SEO THIS CHEAP?

I mean, c'mon.

My actual chiropractor already has an SEO service and she told me she also was paying about $1200/YEAR and she kind of acted like that was a lot.

Now, I don't necessarily agree that every SEO gig is worth $50,000/month but I surely believe it's worth more than $90/month.

Have any of you guys seen these super cheap prices in other categories than Chiro's or did someone just start up a chiro only SEO to make a killing by volume, or what.

Just curious,

Thanks

It probably isn't actual SEO... it's probably Google + local optimization pitched as SEO. It also depends on the city, volume, competition, etc. $90/mo is a good deal though, regardless what it is. I'd say average is around 250-300 on the local scale.

I left out...the guy actually said "high up in Google or Yahoo" but I guess now that I think of it that could mean places optimization...except for the Yahoo part.

But $90/month for the top of Yahoo....well, that's probably too much!

The guy probably did some on page seo and then submitted to the search engines and a couple local directories. It doesn't take a whole lot to rank for local terms if the competition is weak.

I can vouch for this as well. A bit of good on page seo, a few links in local directories, a few blog comments here and there locally, etc can get ranked very well in a weak market... Even a sub-weak market even.

The value of his SEO also depends on how much traffic his keywords are getting, and how much competition there is. Regardless, I wouldn't imagine charging that less even for a bottom of the barrel keyword. I agree with the others. Must be on page and he must not do much every month.

Next time send him a link to show him how to clear his browser history and clear his cache, then show them how to turn the feature that delivers results in google serps based on your search history. Then we'll see really how well that 90 a month is really doing.

This can be a pretty simple situation. How many people is he converting from that investment? If he can't tell you what $90 is doing for him, than its a total waste of money. They can get business from multiple channels and never have it associated with the website.

How is their reputation building? How much response is being generated and what can be done to improve it?

There are plenty of pro services like this that really won't care. If they are busy as hell, then they are likely to overlook it altogether, or shelf the concepts of driving image or new business development.

So if you can't get this kind of desire out of them, it won't really matter if they are paying 90 or 9000. What you might really be after is hooking them into a convo about value. In business, your easiest hook is going to be your own authority frame.

    "Yeah I got a great deal on SEO - 90 a month"
"Great, let's see if we can improve that.....now, I can move you forward by...."

I know for a fact he is half-assed in his online efforts, so he either wants to go get more or he is disqualifying himself as someone who wants more customers or a greater placement in his area. It's not about price so much as it is about time and ROI. Even if he hired an outsourcer himself it would not be that cheap, as it would require a lot of time for him to manage it. Its clear, that if he is getting any returns on that investment, it is a gimmick and will not sustain itself very long. If it took me 10 hours to generate a system for him that would be 9 bucks an hour; its more plausible this means someone is spending about five minutes on his site per month. Which means, that something is being reproduced, and all he looks like online is a clone.

A good way to spot that with Chiro - is the content will have a ton of information that only Chiropractors care about. None of their customers want to know the medical specifics of one spinal classification or another. They want the pain to stop and they want a person they can trust their life with. Go look at the chiro sites all over the place, there is a company called Chiropractic Websites with free Mobile Site | Chiropractic Newsletters | Chiropractic Association they cram sites filled with boring information, totally overdo it. Then the clients think it is great they have video and all sorts of bells and whistles. They don't see this guy is marketing himself, through them and not much more than that. All the videos are about him, and the chiro client is lost in a flood of repeated blah content.

If he says no, objects and so on - plow it to death, keep him on the phone or whatever. It's okay to leave or eject, but leave no doubt in his mind he just met the internet expert of the century.

    My questions are these...

    1. Where does he rank on google for keywords he should be targeting?
    2. How many backlinks does he have?
    3. How long would it have taken to do that?

He could be ranking number 1 with hardly any links that took that guy one hour to do. And with his $90/month price he knows he will never lose the customer.

So he does one hour of work for over $1,000 a year, possibly for serveral years before he will ever have to do any more work.

Hell he could once a month take 5 mins of his time to check the rank and do more if needed but likely this guy is working 10 hours or less a year on this. And his client is happy. This is a win win for him until one of his clients competitor starts ranking better.

And guess what he does then? "Mr. Client I did some research and it seems the reason that Dr. Rank's practice is beating us is he hired someone to do extreme SEO for him. When I quoted you $90/month I knew standard SEO would make you rank but if we want to beat him it will take a lot more. Clearly you can stay in second place with what we hav going now as long as no other competitors follow Dr. Rank's lead and do extreme SEO. Or if you would like could build a similar extreme SEO campaign with the goal of taking back the number one spot. I'd say least start with a $500 (or $1000 or more) package and see where we are in 3 months. We may have to do more at that point if Dr. Rank's SEO guy turns up the heat to beat us. I'm willing to be your partner in this if you want to take this next step."

And guess what? He will likely close him on the higher price because he has given a reason he needs to do it and he has proven to provide value in the past.

So the $90/mo price is a win win for that SEO guy. He locks in easy SEO customers and if they need real work he has built the relationship to sell them on $1,000/mo or more that a cold caller would have trouble selling.

Maybe they did and maybe the Chiropracter keeps Googling his main keyword phrase then clicking on his site in the search results which in turn makes his site rank higher based on his previous search habits, thus making him think he's killing it for 90 a month. :p

Actually a few of my clients have contacted me concerning that. It is being done on mass scale through contact us form on the websites.

I went ahead and got it for a website of mine; the competition is medium and no offpage seo has been done on it.

The contract or basically memorandum of understanding they sent me was that they will create different outlets that will have information about my main website. And they will ensure that at least one of these online outlets will appear on the main page for the relevant keywords.

I agreed as I wanted to see what they are using... Guess what?

The website is no where on the first page but

    1. Google+ is
    2. Tumblr is
    3. Squidoo is

They are using several other platforms but these are what are appearing on the first page.

The aim of marketing is to make selling superfluous. The aim of marketing is to know and understand the customer so well that the product or service fits him and sells itself.....
