How do those multi-step lead capture forms work?

I've seen some landing pages that attempt to capture just the Name & Email on page 1. Then another page comes up asking for even more information (address and other details). The idea is that the people who drop out on the 2nd page can be nurtured into stronger leads over time.

What email programs are capable of this? I'm worried about creating 2 different lists and having the data overlap (so the people who sign up fully are mistakenly emailed twice)

    If you use a ESP you can move a person from one list to another.

    i.e. 1st page signup goes to 1 list, then upon 2nd page signup they get moved to the 2nd list.

    Aweber or Mailchimp is good for this.

    Or you could get one custom coded.

    Thanks! What is an ESP? I actually contacted mailchimp and they said they could NOT do this...maybe the rep was uninformed about what you were talking about though
