I need a website for my services, I think. Opinions?

I have a few clients for most of the services that help businesses succeed. Stuff like websites, SEO, SMS, direct mail, etc. etc.

What I don't have is a website.

The few clients I have have kind of fell into my lap from just talking about the stuff we're all interested in. Whenever I think I want to go at it hard and promote what I can do, I'm held back by the fact that I don't have a website with a menu of my services that I know will actually convert visitors into clients.

Unfortunately, I personally suck at web dev., and don't really have a portfolio or testimonials.

What I want is a site that shows what I can do in a concise way that doesn't overwhelm visitors. Something I can point craigslist, mail, or telemarketed leads to. Something with professional copy writing that will make them pick up the phone and call me.

I've spent the past hour looking for a PLR solution with no luck.

I think I might have to hire a pro copywriter and have him work together with a website guy.

What do you guys think? Any tips?

go to odesk...hire some webdesigners...have them load their portfolio to your site and then you the portfolio...most likely they are willing to do it for you, cause you can bring them some business...maybe one way to go...

If you do this you should be able do what the web designers do. Not a good idea, I think because you'll be lying. You can try a wordpress hosted website. It's easy and inexpensive to create. But if you have the means and if you have no time doing that, then go ahead and hire someone to build a portfolio website.

  • Yes, get a website. Either hire someone or find a nice WP theme.
Decide on your brand, mull it over and stick with it.
It will define your company down the road.
Your copy will play a big role in your sales, but don't get hung up thinking you have to be a Robert Bly.
If you have any testimonies use them, Social proof is key at the get go.
PM me if you have any questions.

Smart move, do not undercut yourself on professionalism- it will make a difference.

Stupid question but if you phoned yourself up selling the benefits of a website then who would you be giving the work to?

I ask because you say you have clients for webdesign. So who did you get to do the work and why can't you ask them to do yours?

Alternatively, find a basic template at Themeforest. This will set you back about $40. Then just set up the basic settings. This doesnt require any dev work and will have you up in a few days.
