Uncle Needs Help for his Contractor Business

My uncle is general contractor that specializes in bathroom and kitchen renovations in New York.

He's looking for more leads.

Whats worked so far:

- Penny saver newspaper ads (Top producer of leads & sales )
- Angie's list (I posted a review for work he's done for me and he gets calls)
- word of mouth

Currently we're working to get him a google + local listing ranked. I think that will work out better than the times I've ranked his direct website. But we'll see.

Any suggestions for WSOs or threads that will teach me how to get him more leads?
Part of me feels Facebook might be the way to go because you can target people by location and interest. But I don't know since folks are on FB to socialize.

Craigslist seems like another option but that might be saturated since his target is New York suburbs.

Any ideas or product suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

You're right. Totally forgot about this strategy.

Ironically I recently did that with a website I was working with.
I had some warriors build some backlinks to the youtube video. http://www.warriorforum.com/warriors...y-25-a-12.html

It ranked pretty well after the first week considering it was no where to be found before the work. But your post reminded me to check the rankings again and it actually moved up to page 2! I'm sure with another push it could move to page one. So I might have to do that with my uncle. Google Seems to love their own properties now anyway. I guess I'll head over to fiverr to have someone create the video for me then hire that warrior again to do the backlinking.

It would be nice to have a one stop shop service for the YouTube video SEO service. I wonder if there are some proven warriors with reviews that offer this.

      Thanks for the suggestion/reminder!

CL is good for contractors, of course there's alot of competition, but the traffic is there if you can deal with the posting/flagging issues.

If you can look for KW's that are more long tail that people have been searching (G Suggest) video is good for that, with the phone number in the title. of course there are tons of ytube courses out now but a WSO that is straight forward is youtube power slam.. solid info ..

I would look at long tail KW that are being searched and rank any web 2.0 property, video, etc that has authority and will rank quickly, until the work for your g+ listing comes to fruition.

Yeah I thought CL too, but it's a pain in the ass especially if your account is going to be flagged or ads pulled down. Thanks for the suggestion on youtube power slam! That looks great! I personally prefer to outsource the work. But I guess after I go through the course and try it myself. I can always train one of my virtual assistants to do it.

Thanks again! That was a great recommendation!!

I saw that but it was closed. It sounded perfect. Oh well, I'll focus on youtube videos.
      Thanks for the suggestion though.

You can try just some local ads in newspapers and maybe some local PPC.

The best thing you can do is put yourself out there.

He's already in the local Penny Saver newspaper and getting a lot of business that way. So he's good there.

I'm more of an SEO guy or was before the Penguin crap. lol. I never really mastered PPC.
But it might be an option if I can find a good local marketing ppc course. You can really lose your shirt with PPC on adwords if you don't know what you're doing.

This would be my advice too. A good direct mail piece could get business. Hell if I had a contractor mail me right now I might hire them as I need bathroom work.

Might have to check your system out then since I know nothing about direct mail.
He's up in Dutchess County so he's not too far from you. So if it's working for you, it might work well for him as well!

You know, I have a relative that owns a very successful deck & patio company. Their best way of getting leads is putting flyers on mailboxes. Their average project is around $20K (large composite decks, vinyl rails & patios) They'll usually put flyers out with specials that include things like a free grill, custom benches, planter boxes etc. The grills are $400-$500 grills from Home Depot. It seems to work extremely well.

Maybe they could do something like that? Now this was a few years ago, & I'm by far not a marketer, but the flyers seemed to bring in way more business than marketing online. Getting out there & interacting with homeowners seemed to do it. Local home improvement shows are great as well.

EDIT: Also, don't take that the wrong way - no doubt the local ranks need to be good. I think the combo between the 2 could generate tons of business.

Yep, video the way to go.
Really, with hi's business he have to be No#1 on google. Don't forget Goog Local . There are several things you can do, soc marketing, listing in Yelp.. etc. Beside that your location also is a factor, how many searches/month...
And yes, flyers are working also.

You said Pennysaver was a top producer for you.

Then go for bigger ads. Or two ads in the issue.
