General Offline Marketing: Age Problems

There's two parts to my questions today.

1) Hypothetically speaking, if you are only 17 years old, yet can provide professional SEO services on the level of any typical corporate SEO plan, what would be the best way to market services offline. If I'm trying to not have a face to face meeting with potential clients, because they will write me off before even giving me a shot and letting me demonstrate how well I can rank sites, what do you think the best form of action would be.

I'm thinking maybe just emailing/cold calling for sales/sign + posters could work.

2) Does a subscription/membership type of monthly service scare off potential customers? For SEO you can't really sell a one time service, like linkbuilding, and have it create a long-term effect. Just in nature SEO is a long-term plan, so I'd prefer to lock my clients into a monthly service plan.

Does anyone have experience with this idea, and can prove that I'll make more/less sales if I go with a one-time $300 plan, or a $300 monthly plan, that offers the same thing, just every 30 days.

I wouldnt be able to charge anything other than a monthly subscription for seo as its an ongoing endevour. I would however charge a once off fee for an on site optimisation of their website. This is something I work into quotes for my offline clients. Monthly+Onsite first month and then monthly thereafter.

      Hmm, that makes sense.

The monthly part was my main problem. For real results you can't do SEO for anything other than an on-going basis. I guess the difference is figuring out who your potential and perfect buy would be, and warriorforum users are at a different level than the typical offline business.

You are going to run into two kinds of people:

    1. People who do care about your age, and will discriminate against you for it

    and

    2. People who don't care about your age, and are interested in what you can do for them.

You cannot do a thing about either. Separate them from one another, get rid of the first group, and concentrate on the second.

I might leave it alone, and not bring up the unasked question. But if they do say something about age, then you can ask if that's a deal-breaker.

Your other possibility is to bring it up right up front. If they have an issue, and you can't change it, best to know at the beginning, right?

I can very well understand that you have been discriminated for your age before and that is why you are asking this question to us. There is only one thing you can do to overcome this problem. Make yourself a brand in SEO market. Try hard to do so. Then people will forget about your age.

    Jason summed it up well.

The group that will care about your age is not worth worrying about now. When you get successful you can hire older sales people to market for you to this group.

The group that doesn't care about age and only results is who you target.

Also SEO should be a monthly fee with a minimum contract of say 6 month or a year (give a discount to prepay vs monthly)

Im 17 and Im doing it.
Business owners (well in Australia) don't care about your age unless you are really young, sort of works in your favour since technology is connected to youth.
    Heres what I found:
Since you are young, business owners will try to pull your price way way down. STAND STRONG KEEP YOUR PRICE!

2nd Don't go walking into a meeting thinking you know how to run their business and how they can improve their business, instead focus more on how seo will get them more customers.Since most business owners are around 40 - 65 they don't want some young kid telling them how to run their business.

Tip Ask clients about how to run a business they will be happy to put fourth their knowledge.

Here is my package that a lot of clients take that I offer.
I rank them First for chosen keyword that we both agree on in 120 days for a one payment fee and if i dont get it first well they get there money back. Then after I get them first they pay me a monthly fee to keep it up in the ranks.

$300 minimum for a keyword I might just add.

    My advice on contacting clients
I don't cold call I just don't like it so I use other effective ways.
Very Personal email + personal video
Follow up call to the email
    Go to the actual business
Go to PAID! networking events (Best WAY to get a lot of clients Quick)

Sorry about the typing just pulled an all nighter

I think your main enemy would be yourself.
Just looking through your clients section on your website I noticed that most of them have no and/or very poor seo. Except for some of them but these a very highly respected sites that get tons of visitors a month and rank for some of the hardest keywords known to google, and I find it very hard to beleive that you ranked them and still don't know how to charge for seo.

Example you claim you ranked 2nd position kriskris.com for keyword "how to lose weight".
Well number #1 in Ausrtalia and number #10 US now.

But if I am wrong I will apologise.
