Best Niches To Target For Mobile Websites?

Hey guys....I know there was a thread a while back that listed a bunch of niches that are responsive to mobile websites.

Does anybody have that list?

Yes, as marketers we know that every business should have one, but which ones currently recognize the value?

Any help would be great.

Thanks guys!

    Re: "Mobile" sites;

I have only ONE type of business on my List; Restaurants

When I look at a "Target Market"...I look at WHAT does that market WANT?

Of course restaurants WANT..."More Diners" however, HOW are they going to get "More Diners"?

So...I put on my "thinking cap" and thought that..."TRAVELERS STAYING AT LOCAL HOTELS"!

These people usually travel with a few snacks and when they arrive in their rooms THEY ARE HUNGRY and are Looking for FOOD!

These folks ALSO ....carry some kind of Mobile Device.

So....if I were to place something IN their Hotel Room that would allow them to USE THEIR MOBILE DEVICE TO FIND LOCAL PLACES TO EAT.... would that be of interest to local Restauranteurs????

    You betcha!!!

Doing something similar to this with a local app at the moment, good money for little effort.

    Great thinking....thanks!

I am also looking into more "obscure" niches too....

There are 2 types of people in this world....those who get it and those who don't. The ones that get it know exactly what we are talking about. The ones who don't are left scratching their heads.

The best niche's for mobile websites has surley got to be restaurants and fast food establishments. As well as these, then any type of service industry.

Not specifically mobile niches, but a large list of businesses:
        http://www.warriorforum.com/offline-...laces-etc.html

How about thinking when someone would need to use their phone to contact a business? Say if they're locked out of their house, their car has broken down, or they've seen info but want more straight away (like seeing a house for sale). Or perhaps any kind of business that does pop-in trade, so people are looking for their location and info while out and about. That could also cover guest houses and B&Bs.

Or pick a town, go through the Google keyword tool with the Advanced filters set to mobile devices and find what businesses people are looking for via their phones.

Here's another thread with ideas: http://www.warriorforum.com/mobile-m...-websites.html

Type restaurant or whatever + (city) into keyword tool then in advanced options select "mobile devices with full Internet browsers" from where it says "show ideas and statistics for".

We sold 11 mobile sites to tattoo parlours last week, with these guys it's very easy to prove a return on their investment and it usually only takes the, a few clients who would have normally clicked away from their site.

Hi ray, always love your comments on here, especially being from the uk also. Are you pitching these mobile sites straight over the phone? or Sending them some kind of demo/mockup?

              cheers

Haha cheers, a mixture of cold calling, email and inbound calls.

We have 3 example sites that we show people, never ever built a mockup. If you call businesses that don't have optimised sites it is a basic mathematical fact that they need one.

Do some quick calculations on the phone with them and they would be silly not to buy, especially if the number you come up with is higher than the price you charge.

Quick question....what is your reasoning behind not doing a mock up? Would like to know your take as I usually offer a free mock up with fairly good success.

Look forward to your answer. Cheers!

Simply time, both me and my designers can be doing much more valuable things with their time than making sites that might not get bought.

Generally people can see something that they like about an example site and they imagine their site without seeing an exact mock up.

I have 3 example sites, all completely different both in functionality and in design all are branded with my logo and info, and you wanna know the best part?

Most people buy without even looking at any demo sites.

In my opinion, niches that are best for mobile sites include hotels, motels, restaurants and fast food joints.

Way back when I started, I had tremendous success cold calling the companies advertising that day on Groupon, Living Social, etc. Those companies were successfully cold called recently and we're open to a promotion..so technically Groupon or whoever it is pre-screened the decision maker...and then I called, set the appointment, and closed the sale.
