Now, this is not a "sexy" strategy that will make you rich by the time the sun goes down but it is something that is very doable.

Have you ever thought about starting a business networking group in your hometown? If you haven't, you should.

Starting a networking group not only positions you as the authority in your area for whatever service (or product) you provide but it also gives you a reason to meet with other local businesses and talk about yourself.

Starting a group is easy...Contact as many businesses in your area as possible and invite them to join the group. It is free of charge to join- make sure you list the benefits of joining so they feel inclined to do so.

Set up a time and place for your first event (this could even be in your local high school or church cafeteria)...At the event each business owner will talk briefly to the group about what they do to market their business. You could also have a guest speaker to add even more value....At the end of the meeting announce the time and place for the next meeting (3 months in the future) and let the attendees that the group is accepting new members (leave your contact info).

The end result is you will be able to hear what others around you are doing for marketing...Since you are a marketing expert you can help them fill in the blanks with anything they may be missing

Oh yea, one last thing....Get the email address of each business in the group and send a monthly newsletter around that talks about marketing...Make sure to include a bit of info about what you do and how it could possibly help

Over time your group will grow and you will get more business!

Take care,

Brian

Brian, 3 months seems a bit too long of a time lag in between the meetings. I know many groups meet weekly or monthly. How many of the same people do you get to come back in 3 months?
