Your Experience With Cold Calling (Local B2B Marketing)

Lately, my husband and his brother are thinking of trying this to sell some short term employee training programs. At first, they want to target local companies and then move on to the other parts of the county.
Do you think cold calling would be cheaper than the other forms of advertising (Print advertising, email marketing or local T.V ads)?

Please share your experience.

  • I hate cold calling with a passion and will not do it. Try networking through a business association or chamber of commerce instead.

I also hate getting sales calls. I just hang up on them.

So I would suggest build a list or do a snail mail mailing....

I guess the first thing I would ask is what the training is.

That way we can give you ideas on how best to market it.

If the training is for employees, then you can target any business that has employees, the only parameters are what YOU can handle. Can you train 2-1000 employees? What are you training them on?

Cold calling works well, if you hire someone that knows what they are doing. If you are going to build a list, one of the most effective ways to get true interest is to call that list and make an appointment. If they are serious enough to set aside more time to hear your pitch, you have interest.

There are tons of threads here in the offline forum with information. Search "cold calling" or PM me if you have questions.

      Thanks for your input
Well, he happens to be a language processing and soft skill trainer but this time around he has created a bit different training program that combines communication along with social media....About four years ago, he used to work for a company that would offer On-site training on social media marketing (all companies can't afford to have a full time SEO/SEM/SMM consultant)
So he is thinking of doing something like that.

I will appreciate your help (Going to PM you)

What benefits will the training you supply have?

Will they benefit the employers or the employees?
