Door to Door Prospecting

I have 500 postcards that are suppose to be in today. One side is a list of all my services. The other side is an October app special of $597. Any tips for success in door to door prospecting?

      It's not a script but it is apt.

      I have seen you post that you live in Alabama. No idea why but I have an image that informal friendly chit chat is all that you require and I suspect you already have that down to a tee.

    My advice is not to just hand out the cards. They will tend to become a crutch, and you'll walk out with nothing. I would only show the card if they are nearly sold, and you want to tip them over the edge with your October Special. By handing them your card...you now give them something more to "think about"....after you leave.

    "I'll look this over" translates to "Thank God I don't have to think about this now". So use the card sparingly. I've knocked on over 10,000 doors, so this isn't a guess.

    Kanigan is right. Prospecting is prospecting. The advantage you have is that you can show them what you do, by taking a tablet with you.
    Use Kanigan's approach, it works both in person and on the phone.


    By the way, when I speak in front of groups, I tell them that I used to cold call. Someone asks "Did you go door to door?". And I say "Yes. I used to go window to window...but I got arrested".

    I handed out approximately 250 fliers for a contracting business. We did this by standing in a parking lot, driving neighborhoods and talking to random people. We got two leads and closed one job.
