Taxes and Commissions

Hey Warriors,

G-d willing I'll be starting my mobile web design business shortly.

Do you know what kind of taxes I have to pay when I sell a website in the US?

Also, does anybody know how to send automatic commissions to salespeople when their customers pay? I want a system where my salesperson sends an invoice, and when the customer pays the salesperson gets his commission right away. It's sort of like an affiliate marketing system, but I need professional looking and easily customizable invoices like those found at freshbooks.com

Thanks!

As far as taxes - when I was simply a freelancer and not incorporated , I used to set aside 30% of everything I made. With that said, I usually didn't owe as much as I had put back but it's a safe number.

The bottom line will depend on how much actual earned income you made throughout the year - that is what your income taxes are based on.

I agree with this sentiment. If you don't want to pay 30%, then you can't be self employed. This is how to get around the self employment taxes...if you own abc company which is an LLC which gets taxed as an S-Corp, then you might end up saving some money in taxes because you won't be self employed. That would be a discussion I would take up with a lawyer. Mine showed me how to save a bunch of tax dollars. Some even provide free advice to get you going so that they can earn your future business.
