Turn a $35 "investment" into $8,000

I posted this on another thread that reminded me of a program I did a few yrs ago.

Consumers are in a "Coupon-Mode" nowadays and....biz owners WANT to "motivate" consumers to BUY so.....give them BOTH what they want with a "EMPLOYEE DISCOUNT CARD"....
and a "COMMUNITY DISCOUNT CARD"!

(CLICK MY SIG BELOW)

I started out by making a "Mock-Up" of a "Discount Card"....taking it to local businesses and SELLING them on accepting MY Discount Cards (Which they were eager and willing to do to DRAW business in)

I then made a FINAL design and had my printer print up 1,000 for $35 (16pt Glossy w/UV Coating and Full Color on BOTH Sides)

(Vista Print and Got Print can do the same job for you)

So....when I received my Cards....I went about selling the "Employee Discount Cards" to local biz owners (hospital bought 500) and I had sales people selling my "COMMUNITY DISCOUNT CARDS" to local consumers for $10 each (I just changed the Name from Employee discount cards to "Community" discount cards)

I averaged $8 per card with the "employee" card sold to biz owners and $10 less $5 sales commission ($5 net to me less 2 1/2 cents per Card)

So....take a gander at my "Sales Sheet" and give it a try for yourself. You COULD surprise yourself. The biznesses are VERY responsive to this and, for 10 bux, consumers will QUICKLY WHIP OUT $10! We also got a local charity and boosted the price up to $20 per card....gave the charity $6 and netted $14 per Card

And....I also discovered...YOU DON'T NEED A CHARITY TO SELL THESE CARDS!

Here's the Link to my Presentation:

Give it a try AND....give me a "Thank You" for sharing this FREE Money-Maker with you.

Thanks ,

    nice share and artwork.

Why do all your shares seem to be dated from 2010 ?
the 90 second pizza pitch was also from 2010.

Can you share the pitch you made to the local business? I'm sure this did great for you and the community, but I don't see how a subway would profit of something like this when they offer buy 1 get 1 free for an entire year...

Again, not trying to doubt you or be negative...just trying to learn.

    Thanks Don.
A few questions: What are the size of the cards? Wallet size?
Did the Biz owners re-up after the first year?
The food guys seem to take the biggest hit,e.g. 1000 6" subs times 3$ = 3000$

But the sub doesn't cost them $3 to make. It's worth it if you can get a guy to be a regular customer. I see this coupon being used in two different ways.

Single guy will get two 6 inch vs one foot long. Since he likes food and saved money he will like get a drink plus cookie or chips. The whole meal will make profit for the subway.

A couple. They will each get a six inch. One will likely cost more than the other so that will help the margins since the most expensive will be the one they pay for. They will likely get drinks and chips or cookies as well. Once again the total meal is profitable.

Makes sense. Still processing and trying to predict prospect objections here.
The end game is butts-in -the-seats,correct?
not a printer either, so 16pt does not tell me the size of the card. I am assuming wallet size from Dons page.

    It's not a big hit.
    It comes down to ROI.
Will you just buy one 6" everytime you come in for the next year?
Will you buy a drink? A cookie? Some chips?

Would you mind sharing your pitch that you use to get businesses on board to be part of these cards?

Also are these cards your standard 3.5" x 2.0" biz cards?

Also I can see trying to sell these to businesses as employee cards, but how do you go about selling to consumers?

I've made Cards for many people who just go door-to-door and get $10 a Card at almost every door.

Then...we get a Boy or Girl Scout group or Church Group to agree to let us sell Cards for them. We give the group $4 ea. The Cards cost pennies each do....we split $6 and set up on a Card Table outside large local Supermarkets.

Heck....on a Sat & Sun we can usually sell 2,000 Cards. For an "investment" of $70....I don't mind putting $6,000 in MY pockets....the Vendor person gets $6,000 in her purse and the Youth Group comes out with $8,000! You Kiddin' me! This is AWESOME!

      Don Alm

Oopps...forgot to mention, there's 2 people I know (in 2 different towns) who set up near the Gates of HS Football Stadiums and sell at least 500 Cards ea on a Friday night game....for a nice $3,000 every Fri night ($6 per Card)

      Don,
I have followed your awesome stories since you were a member of another small business forum. You probably know the one. Alot of nay sayers there. Well I have been trying to purchase your midas reports for almost 6 months and have never been given a way to pay. Not taking away from you at all, but as such a super sales man, you gotta make it easier for those who want and need your street level, belly to belly salesmanship skills imparted on us. The price you quoted me at lets call it shellsofwisdom.com was very reasonable and I tried using the buy button, but it never worked. Please pm me to instruct me on how to get my hands on your midas touch book. Also I am very interested in a 20 minute or so conversation on a couple programs of yours. Just so you know, I am not a newbie who doesnt take action. I was a top producing mortgage broker at the age of 19 and b=now at 27 have giving up atleast for now on my real estate dreams, to hit the streets to bring home the bacon. I look forward to your correspondence. Thank you!
