Are you an experienced offline marketer? - Funny Story and Serious Question

Hello dear offliners,

You may laugh or you may smile reading this but I am in love. I want to move back in my country to live in the same city with my girl but for this I need to make at least $1000 per month with my design working 100% from home.

This is serious...I am desperate for this to work.

I design good looking mobile sites and I can also make websites for offline businesses using some wordpress themes.

I am also willing to learn more. I am not lazy. I can work all day if thats what it takes.

My question to you is...what do I need to start making this kind of money in about 2-3 months.

Is it possible to sell design services to businesses in other countries as my native country is Romania and selling design to offline businesses is not really profitable?

If yes, how? Please teach me. Give me your advice on how I can start making enough money with my design now.

      This is good advice. I use Odesk daily and once I've found a good contractor, I stick with them.

      My one word of advice, when you're applying for work on these platforms, ask plenty of questions and better still, do a mock design of the project they're posting. This always gets my attention.

      Follow-up - Once you've put in your bid for the work, follow this up with a message within 24hrs. This ensures you're in the mind of the client (away from the pack) and you come across eager and ready.

      Advice - Before you get awarded the job, go the extra mile and give them advice on how to design and improve their site.

      So many contractors don't go the extra mile to get my business. The ones that do always get hired!

    I would think that between sites like odesk,elance and the wf that you could EASILY find enough work to make 1k per month.
    If you still cant find enough work then I would target small and medium sized advertising agencies or marketing companies in populous US cities and offer a white label solution that they can then resell to their customers.
    If you are offering nice, custome mobile designs for under $100 that they will probably resell for AT LEAST $500 then they should be pretty happy to work with you.

    Seriously $1k a month is a very modest goal and I strongly suspect that once the word gets out that you will have all the business that you can handle.

    When you do start working with a marketer or business - remember to ask for referrals to others! If they like your designs enough to keep you as their designer, they may also be willing to give you a testimonial or referral.
