You can search for a professional to do it (like in odesk, freelancer, or even in Fiverr). However let met just say this - 5 seconds? On a radio? I'm highly skeptical that people will notice it. It's just way too short.

Usually the radio stations will help with your script once you have signed up to advertise with them. They are interested in seeing you succeed so you keep coming back.

As for script length I think

    a) It is too short to be effective
    b) Most stations will not take a script under 15 seconds OR they will charge a inflated rate for it.
    c) Make a 15 second one...they work great, trust me

It would be best to hire an expert on this. ROI would be better if the ad was done well.

Make something that will break pattern of thoughts people have. Something that will result in curiosity... e.g loud sounds, calm sounds, something different

For example -- The sound of a car crash -- "This is what's happened to James Smith just 2 months after starting the...."

Well highlight the issues such as competitiveness, boost business etc.. Your ad should focus on touching a nerve cord such as:

    1. Are you business facing tough competition online?
    2. You have a website but no visitors?
    3. Your competitors stealing your spot online?
    4. Steal the spotlight and stop worrying about your competitors!
    5. Increase your (online) sales today with our affordable blablabla

Anything along these lines will help you hopefully, just telling you whatever coming in my brain right now but i am sure if you sit and think properly; you will get better versions!

For such a short ad, you need to make sure you are able to highlight the issue and the solution(your service).

    Hope that helps

The aim of marketing is to make selling superfluous. The aim of marketing is to know and understand the customer so well that the product or service fits him and sells itself.....

If you've never done radio advertising before be ready for disappointing results.

You MUST track the responses directly by having a unique phone number or url
that could only have been responded to via your radio ads.

    Good luck

I am not sure how you can use Radio ads campaign for SEO services, to my perception it won't help you a lot and for your information any kind of ads related activities will not help you on SEO.

      I agree.

Using a broadcasting medium for a message to a targeted audience is bound to fail.

You'd be much better off investing that money in direct mail to your target audience.

One of the best openings to a radio commercial was for a make money online course. The commercial started off with someone laughing and saying something like "I know right?".

It sounded as if they were on the air and did not know it. Which of courese being in a vouyeuristic society we all really start tuning in. Do they know they are on air? What are they going to say? Are they going to say some dirty words?

And then they jump into the pitch.

Everytime that commercial came on it got me to listen. It was one of the best commercials I have ever heard.

        Another thought for you.

Instead of taking a bunch of commercials what if they interviewed you live a couple of times on air? That way you could use the MP3 a variety of ways. Personally I think this would prove more value than general radio commercials. But hey, I could be wrong.

          To the OP:

Young man, radio isn't the media to sell SEO services. Over 99% of the people listening (all of which you are paying for) will never need SEO services.

The radio spot doesn't matter. What you offer doesn't matter.

Direct mail to business owners, cold calling business owners...that's how you get sales.

Maybe direct mail postcards to business owners directing them to a website.

In a large city, with the most popular radio station, at peak drive time.....
a few thousand people will hear your radio ad. One or none will respond.
Why? Because almost none of the listeners own a company...and they are thinking of buying SEO services when thy hear your ad.

If you already paid for the spots...let the rep create something for you. Run the ads..and then try to learn a little about marketing.

I had an "almost client" who sold surgical gowns to hospitals. He wanted to advertise on radio. I asked "How many businesses, in the broadcast radius will ever buy surgical gowns?"

He said "Four. Two hospitals, and two vet clinics maybe"

I said "Buy them all a gift and deliver it." You see, 99.99999999% of the listeners on that station were not potential clients of his...but he was still paying for all the listeners. Not a great move.

          Reality is cruel.

  • Ideally you want to run a radio campaign to get a least 3 impressions on at least 70% of your target demographic. That ususally costs more than most consultants/solopreneurs can handle.

I don't know your particular situation, but if you have the cash it is best to saturate the number one station in your demographic/psychographic before adding additional stations.

That might mean your number one station is the jazz station where you can buy spots all day long.

More likely you are targeting a business audience which often indicates a talk radio station.

Either way it is better to stick with one station at first unless you have deep pockets.

Think of your audience as a passing parade, not standing still.

You'll want to appeal to both short term ready-to-buy-now customers (roughly 15% of all buyers), as well as plant a seed with customers that haven't entered the buying cycle yet (roughly 85% of all buyers).

To do that, have a clear headline, benefits and a strong call to action (price/item, sales, limited time offer, special tracking number, special url) to get the "now" buyers while incorporating some branding to grease the skids for when the "later" buyers are ready.

When I say branding, I don't mean a jingle, rather just make sure your name, locations and USP is used in every ad no matter what.

If money is tight, pack all the spots into short term promotions of 3 to 4 days. Then come back for another promotion when the cash is available. If money is really tight, use another medium.
