Website / FB Community / Sell Adverts

Dear All.

I'm gonna keep this short but i was thinking about doing this locally. I have been looking at using the WIX software and use their templates to design websites, most notably restaurants, takeaways etc.

I am looking to offer these site for just £199 all in for one year just to tempt these people in. The reason that these are being provided at this price is that i will control the Facebook 'like' and direct to my community (Discounts locally). I am looking for around 10 companies locally and will also provide 200 pamphlets to each company to distribute advertising their company and their website.

The Facebook community is based on saving money locally by receiving discounts and these will be provided viraly by using 2 WSO's that i have seen.

Once the community is built i will then target other companies locally with the chance to advertise on the Facebook page and will show them how much they can save by not having leaflets printed and instead i will advertise their company for say a 'week'

So basically a company will receive a website, 250 leaflets, free price changes to website (Website design changes will cost though) and 5 adverts a year on the 'community' page on facebook.

All this is for £199 a year, what do people think please for someone looking to start from scratch.

      Hi.

      Thanks for compliment.

      I will post a business card or leaflet through their door when theyre are closed. I live in a small town and the majority of business owners actually are there most days or if not they are at least ran by the family so there is a good chance that an interested party would definitely see my card/leaflet.

    Good idea Shaun. Why not build the sites on wordpress through your hosting (where you are in control) and offer your additional services? I guarantee you that WIX (and partners) will emailing and sending stuff out snail mail with various offers.

    If you build and host the sites, it will give you more chance to offer them additional services.

    You could upsell them with a mobile site, consider writing content for their blog posts (I'd say 4 per month), Look after there social media with the Hootsuite dashboard. You don't need WIX IMO, just outsource it to odesk, elance or any of the chaps in the "warriors for hire" section.

      I agree ...building an hosting the sites will give more control over your customers sites...and it will be a lot easier to upsell them with more products/servises...

        But surely having no knowledge of WP, well minimal anyway... I thought it would be quicker and more professional if i used a quality template by WIX and also they and heyo provide great Facebook tools for fanpages,etc.

        Maybe i could go to WP once i get a bit of cash in from the companies and transfer it to WP later on.

    Hi Desmond.

    I chose wix because of their excellent templates, affordability and my little knowledge of web design. The bit you mention about their 'social media' management, it would actually be my social media management as im kind of using them to get what i want... Extra cash, build a community and then charge them for adverts on my 'local' facebook page

    Thanks for advice though Desmond as ive been looking at Hootsuite for a while.

    Please do not use Wix. It is terrible. They load slow, pull HEAPS of data from the Wix servers, are crap for SEO, no control of your hosting...I could go on.

    Wordpress is just as easy and 1 billion times better, grab a cheap reseller account (I use and LOVE hostgator, its about $25 a month for the cheap plan) install wordpress, google "Free wordpress themes" and spend a few hours having a play, because thats all it takes to learn it.

    No coding unless you want to and the results are usually pretty good even for the free or cheap themes.

    If you want to use wix to make a site for your pet cats go for it, but for the love of god do NOT use it as a base for your business. You will thank me.

    FanPageLinks, you don't need to know too much about wordpress. The beauty about outsourcing is using guys that are professionals in their field that allows you time to do the things you're good at.

    Please take SJJPFTW and my advice and just go with wordpress. Wix is the wrong way to go if you want to build a profitable offline business. The name of the game is control. Using Wix means you have to play by their rules, terms and conditions.

    I think i will start the idea off using Wix and after possibly 3 sign ups i will then have the funds available to outsource a template with WPress. Funds are really tight at the moment so this way initially would be best for my situation.

    The fact that you're taking action is the most important part mate. You're at least ahead of 99% on the forum
