Personal presentations in secondary schools in the USA and Canada - Does anyone have experience?

Hi,

Can I ask if anyone has experience in going into secondary schools in North America and keeping presentations.

Meaning, is it accepted in the US and Canada that external experts come in to the school and keep a half hour presentation on a particular subject.

I have an offline product which works nice in the UK and in the Netherlands - presenting the Dangers of Social Media Networking to school aged children: Disadvantages of Social Media - Free business opportunity

The thing in the UK is that the classroom teacher has to be present in the classroom during this presentation (which is normal anyways). But I was wondering if there is anything else that might be required in the Us and Canada. (Usually things are more systemized in these 2 countries than in Europe)

Thanks,
kornel

In Canada I can see it being acceptable but as a business venture not really as the school system is very tight budgeted.Schools in Canada cannot even afford decent sports equipment and to get these extras parents and students have to fund raise.Something like what you may be offering may be presented by the police as a community service for free so if this is something you want to sell to the school or provide the service for a cost they'll not go for it I'm afraid. Now if you could pitch it to the government to grant funds to do this in schools maybe but a lot of red tape.Or after checking out your site May I suggest you just sell the presentation to each school now that I could see working unfortunately you will not make the money you suggest could make doing presentations yourself but there are a lot of schools in Canada and something is better than nothing.

Yes thanks, that is our plan actually. We are preparing an interactive animation movie which schools will be able to put on their own website after subscribing. That will probably be a better way of doing this in the long run.
      Cheers, kornel
