Who Is *Actively* Ranking Videos On Youtube AND Getting Local Calls/Leads?

I'm not making this thread to talk about theory or how to potentially rank videos.

I'm targeting people who already have videos ranking for local keywords, and are actively getting calls right now. I am from NJ, and targeting keywords in NJ.

Since I would rather not share a lot of my videos on the forum, feel free to pm me, and we can "start slow". To make sure we're not competitors. And if we are, maybe it would be for the best either way?

I am looking to increase my current youtube conversions, find better buyer keywords, and set up a larger sales funnel on youtube (people know I do a lot on CL but right now I'd like to focus on youtube).

I am in niches that have lots of room for domination, but for some reason, I can't get more than 2-3 calls a month from each video. Thats an average. Some videos get 4-5 calls, others get 1 or 2, some get none.

I'm curious about things like the ratio of your keywords. Currently I'm doing about 70% long tailed keywords, and 30% broad keywords.

Lately I started getting client reviews, left in my comments. It definitely seems to help conversions. But I'm also curious about how people are pitching their services.

Are you using commerical type videos? To make your business look big? Because some of my more personal videos, where I don't do that, seem to have better conversions. Where there are no fancy graphics, but just a person speaking with a well written/well delivered script. I use images too, but I tend to add a lot of social proof, and sample work photos, rather than some of the more highly decorated content that doesn't seem to add much value (I'll have to link example videos from other people to show what I mean).

It also seems, when I do the scripts myself, rather than get voiceover work done, that the conversions are better. I noticed when I get voiceover work on fiver, even when their voices are great, its almost like people can SENSE that their accents aren't local. People from NJ have a somewhat unique way of talking, and I noticed when I use my own voice, it seems people trust the video more.

I'm just looking to exchange ideas so I can get more leads off youtube. If anyone wants to pm me, go right ahead. If people want to leave advice in this thread, feel free to do so.

But I'm more focused on different methods of pitching a business, different ways to use comments, examples of good keywords to go after, rather than how you rank your videos.

Do you want me to share more? Just ask and I'll add more value. But I'd like to get some type of discussion going on this. Whether in this thread, or in private.

Thanks - Red

Here. This is what I consider "highly decorated" content, that doesn't add any value.

Theres no personal speaking, its terribly boring to watch, and although it looks professional, I just can NOT imagine a video like that "connecting" with their market.

    Wheres the personalization?
    Social proof?
The message that connects? I don't see it.

This "connects" a little better. But the call to action sucks. Obviously loading a video up with testimonials is better than the last video.

But the number in white is weak, no number in the description.... ehhh. Why are there so many videos like this on youtube? Is this what marketers on WF are doing? If you know of any professional biz videos, that are organized really well, feel free to link. Right now I'm just criticizing random videos lol.

Alright! Dentists definitely know their stuff. This is a much better video imo. Its both personal and professional, does exactly what it needs imo.

ps. People may hate that "accent", but thats what I'm talking about. NJ people talk weird. Do people from your state talk weird? Plan on getting a voiceover done from out of state? Think again imo.

If they're decently searched keywords, have you thought of ranking posts there as well, so you can take the top 3-4 spots? Put one tracking number on the video and site and see if there's a higher call volume.

I'm not great with quality of video either as in getting calls. To be fair I've never ranked for a keyword that gets more than 10 searches per month. Not that I can't, it just hasn't happened yet for me and a client, so if there is more info for this, I'd love to know as well.

Is that 10 searches a month with google keyword tool or youtube?

Either way, would you like to rank it? I can rank a video like that in no time.

But I would need the keywords. Even for small keywords, I'd need to do some quick competitor research. Its totally up to you.

No, that vid is just for a local contractor I have. I was just stating that I've never gotten a lot of calls either, but it could be because i don't get that many searches on the few vids i've ranked.

Right now our strategy is to create videos so they can take up as much real estate as possible on Page 1. The current formula is something like 10,000 views..100 likes, 5 comments, steady backlinking and about 5-6 relevent videos on the account.

Secret Sauce for New Guys: When ranking for something like "chicago plumber" create the Youtube account with an e-mail like chicagoplumber1@gmail.com and name the account ChicagoPlumber.

Good post, I rank videos as well mostly to get control of Page 1. Nothing better than having Google + Local listing, Organic Page, 3-4 videos and some citation sites ranking in page one for your keywords.. Page one domination!

My sister lives in NJ. your right about the details of accents that can help with conversions.

I am piecemealing some strategies to start offering a new package to promote local offline brick and mortar and I have enjoyed your craigslist threads.

in my research i am seeing alot craigslist posts showing up in local searches and have thought about somehow strategically using a hybrid of craigslist with youtube.

whereas also leveraging the craigslist posts supporting the videos.

lots of work still needed to do.

I do a ton of local videos for local businesses. 5 or 6 new customers a month is pretty good actually. But these are sales, usually in the hundreds or thousands of dollars. So we are talking Return On Investment.

Yup; Personal videos convert better. The owner of the business talking is better than a professional video. And a video telling a story or showing Before & after photos is even better. These videos may get 25 or 50 real views a month.

But I make sure that more than one video shows up on page 1 of Google. 3 or 4 is average. It impresses clients more than real sales.

Want the video to convert? The video needs to sell something. Demonstrate a feature, talk about benefits, show results from satisfied customers.

I don't care how many people look at the video, or how many call, but I do care about how many buy. And so will some of your clients.

And I keep getting videos from clients (I upload and optimize them as part of my package) that are done in a studio and are beautiful videos that sell nothing. Oh well.

A few things that help. Every display print ad they do has a link to a page of videos. Every website they have has videos on it. I create a few additional websites that host their videos. So there are people getting to the videos that are actually interested. I also create videos for their surrounding towns, that link to the main videos. So their area is greatly expanded. More work, but it really gets results.

/\ Thats great, thanks for sharing!

I noticed that same problem. A lot of keywords, when it comes to local business, will get stuck on page 3. Unless the keywords are highly localized. Like "carpet-cleaning-middletown-nj". Any keyword like that would be easy to get on page 1.

But most will show on the bottom. They still get views though because they're video thumbnails.

Then larger keywords, like "carpet cleaning nj", those will tend to hit a wall on page 3. However, they get more searches on youtube. It seems only 5-7% of people are using mobile phones to view on youtube (according to youtube analytics) but ironically enough, when we ask the people who call, it seems a much higher % (than 5-7%) are people saying "I found you on my phone". That tells me the mobile views, have a lot more urgency behind them.

What I'm trying to master now, is designing my videos in a way that makes them easily "spinnable", without reducing the quality.

So I've been developing a rough formula.

I don't like ultra short videos, I try to aim for around 3 minute videos.
Then I try to break my video down into "spinnable percents". This might make no sense, but let me explain.

10% of the video is my call to actions.
5% for the begining, 5% for the end (these are strong call to actions with a person speaking PLUS text). These are NEVER spun. I always use the same.

25% of my video, for testimonials, I tend to put 3-4 in every video.
They are the best testimonies we have. I usually put them at the end, before the final CTA. These I always spin. I have a folder with a bunch of short testimonies, then I just load and change the order for every video.

25% for the "unique" script. This is the only original part of every video. However, its not that "original". This is more about keyword selection than anything. Would take too long to explain. But this is where I put the most time into my videos. Everything else can be spun manually using power director. The script always starts right after our intro/CTA. It immediately touches on a persons pain, then offers BENEFITS or our USP. I have a copywriting form I use that helps me brain storm this so its really powerful and engages people.

That form or template, also helps me when I'm targeting keywords that need completely new scripts. It allows me to script a really powerful message, w/out wasting time.

I don't rant on about how many customers we served in the "benefits" script, or the fact that we're licensed and insured. I dedicate another small section to that. Around 15%. It basically flashes our BBB logo, any certifications we have, license number, etc, anything I can find to build credibility. Since this is the same for every video, I have "audio sound bytes" I recorded, that allow me to spin both the image order, and audio.

This probably sounds really complicated I should have organized this before I posted all this information.

That leaves me with 25% that is spent for beautiful before/after photos.

Now, I don't always stick to this same formula.
What I'm trying to get out there for new youtube users. Is try to find a way to make your videos, so ALL OF THEM are powerful/high quality But can be SPUN, so they all look somewhat unique.

I have my own mic and recording studio. You don't need that, but if you're good at speaking, get a GOOD mic. In addition to all this, I try to get videos sent to me from the businesses. Like one business sent me about 30 videos, so I cut out the best sections I can. Then I try to work them into my videos. Some businesses may not have any. I don't suggest working with businesses like that in the first place. Although you can do w/e you want. But if they're not recording testimonies and their work, they likely have no idea how to sell either.

ANYTHING to make the process go faster. Just NEVER sacrifice quality for time. If you plan on doing A LOT of videos, try really hard to come up with some formula. Something that allows you to make ALL of the videos "connect" with the traffic. Recording sound bytes has helped me a lot.

Its so hard to explain how I use them, but if you use your brain, you can get really creative. For instance, the copywriting template I use, has sections like:

    1) List all the features AND benefits.

I do this in 2 lettered columns.

    2) THEN, list all the largest benefits first, using a short lettered list once again.

    a)
    b)
    c)
    d)
    e)

    3) List all the things your client loses by NOT using your service.

    a)
    b)
    etc etc

    4) List all the objections with another list. If you need help with this, Amazon is your best friend for research. Read reviews of books, that are similar to your niche. Go through reviews, you'll find MANY objections/fears/anxieties that people have, that you can overcome in the videos.

    a)
    b)
    etc etc

Then I also do competitor research, and find out THEIR benefits and USP.

But rather than rant on any longer, what I do, is RECORD all this stuff into "sound bytes". The spinnable parts. Then every video has a section where a person is speaking in the video delivering the main script. Some of my videos have a salesman from the company doing it. But since I'm on payroll for the 3 businesses I work for, I also have their shirts. Only 1 of these businesses I have been working with for a long time. I treat it like my own company because my brother has worked there for the last 10 years. Plus his best friend who I've known my whole life. Then the other 2 are companies I met through his friend/boss. Most of the time I do the benefits section by myself, but sometimes the salesman get involved. I don't really care either way. Whatever gets the phones ringing faster lol.

I generally record all the benefits at once, then slice them up using audio software. Then save them as files like "benefit 1", "benefit 2" etc. You can even lose your mind if you want, and program the bytes into a "sampler". So you can press buttons, and have the script speak in different ways. In FL Studio, you can load all the bytes into the sampler, then use the keys on your keyboard to trigger different bytes. In fact, I shouldn't even tell you some of the things that are possible with a tiny bit of tech knowledge. You can stream a video, and press buttons on your keyboard to script the entire audio as the video plays.

Sound like a bit of work? DO NOT be intimidated, set ups like this are SUPER EASY to do (I'll even make a video to show the forum if you guys want - but at a later date). You just spend a couple hours recording various different sections in various different ways, filler words and what not. Then you can basically sit down on your computer, push buttons, and develop a "unique script" every single time. I'm telling you, if you ever set up a script this way, it will blow your mind. Thats why I'm getting so interested in youtube lately along with CL.

Never forget the "5 Ps of life".

    Proper preparation prevents poor performance!

One of these days, I'll definitely record a video. Just to organize my method a bit more for youtube newbies to see. And I still have to make a CL thread, on the results of our most recent craigslist case study (people are gonna love that thread)! I'm just so disorganized at the moment. Was suppose to make a call like 15 mins ago and here I am on WF again.

If you create effective videos this way that get results, I'm a believer.

Most of my videos are simple, straight forward with a call to action at the end.

I have been able to rank in the top video searches for a particular local keyword.

I'm always up for adding new stuff to my video creation.

    thanks for the post.

P.S. It does seem very complicated to me....but again if it works, it is worth it!
