[Something Different] Selling Jingles To Companies

Hi all,

I've been surfing the net for a while looking for info on jingles, specifically selling jingles to companies. (commercials etc)

I know I've read in the past about people building successful businesses out of this?

Anyone got some stories or knowledge to add?

Shouldn't be too hard if you know basic music theory/have an aptitude for music and understand the technology behind it so that you could create it. Go about it the way you would selling other offline services, demonstrating jingles you've written for other companies, etc.

Unless you can make music on your own it wouldn't be the most feasible thing for a start-up considering you would have to hire a composer to write the jingles, which aren't exactly the easiest thing to do.

Jingles express a complete musical idea in a very concise way on top of being ear worms that stick with you just because they're so catchy!

What resources do you have available to tackle this thing?

What place does a Marketer have selling jingles?

... As a Marketer, you are supposed to be a cut above the rest... As a Marketer, you are supposed to understand how to maneuver gingerly through life doing little to no work, whilst at the same time being paid a dangerously large amount of cash... Damn it, as a Marketer: you aren't supposed to be "selling jingles"... what is this?...

I'll give you some advice here, because I'm a nice guy...

LEAVE IT ALONE!!... there are pastures out there that are 120X greener than this

      Hi Adrian,

Thanks for you comment, I appreciate it.

But, because I am a nice guy, let me give you some advice as well:

Just because I am marketer does not mean I cannot dabble in other forms of business.

In fact, I come from a highly musical background where my dad is a multi-instrumentalist and I am myself produce and write music from time to time so providing a score to an advert could mean big business.

Do me a favour Adrian, Google: Pharrell Williams Despicable Me.

If fact google swizz beatz timbaland scott storch per track.

Damn it Adrian, before you comment next time, do your research please.

While I tend to agree with Adrian on this I won't go that far.

If you want to do this I would say your best bet would be to team up with someone who makes jingles and settle on a proper split of fees. Then you would be doing the selling.

Our business got a jingle recently but it was a "value add' as part of another marketing package(from a TV station).

    You basic questions are...
    1. Can you find someone (or do it yourself) that can create quality jingles for a good price.
    2. Can you find businesses looking for jiingles (I assume most who want one will find a company locally to do it.)
    3. Can you show the benefits of a jingle to prospects who don't want a jingle right now? Basically do you have a way you can show how a jingle will solve problems they are having?
