Good info Stacey. Elegant has their $39 package but if you want all of the features and plug ins, you'll need to buy the $89 package.

Thanks for the recommendations to WMPU and smashing. I will check them out. I just sent you a Facebook request per your sig line. My first name is Darren when you see it.

I've found Elegant Themes reasonably good for what they cost but they do have some issues like Stacey points out. In terms of the support I've found it's very hit and miss - sometimes you get the exact answer you need and sometimes it seems to be completely ignored.

For the price though I guess you can't complain too much and as long as you are happy messing with code a bit then you get a pretty good deal.

Will check out InkThemes though that's one I don't remember coming across before

Stacey hit the nail on the head! Though, I have found something that fixes most of the problems I come across with Elegant Themes.

If you input the sample content they give you, it fixes most of the bugs. You just have to delete everything you don't want, and change what you do.

The support forum is kind of shaky, and can be touch and go. Sometimes they're on their ball, and respond promptly and quickly, which has happened for me many times, and they gave me custom code for things they not necessarily should have. Other times, it's been days before I even get an initial response. I have seen them pull that 'too much customization' bs many times, but I have also received responses that are contrary to that. I guess in the end, it's just hit or miss.

If you know basic html, and css, enough to at least change basic concepts, then you should be good to go, and Elegant Themes will work well for you. They do have some nice designs, that are pretty much reworked versions of themes that have been out there for a while. I've used about 20 of them, and they have all worked well for what it's worth.

If you 'know the know' and this isn't a foreign language to you, then I would recommend it for $39, even if you use one site out of it, it should make your money back.

Also, check out my thread: A free Wordpress theme "service" + MORE that you should pay attention to.

It's something you should definitely check out once a month, and will give you 12 free themes a year, along with many other things if you're building websites frequently.

    Luke
