Durham, Kanigan, Michaels - It's All Your Fault...

and any others that I'm leaving out....

It's all your fault that I'm cold calling business owners at 3:00pm on a Saturday!

Why? Because you guys have made it abundantly clear that cold calling is the quickest and best way to secure offline clients.

Since I've implemented some of the strategies, tips and scripts that I've picked up from you guys, my business has dramatically changed for the better.

My personal goal over the last few weeks has been to speak with 10 business owners every day except Sunday. Not 5 business owners and 5 gate keepers, but 10 business owners everyday.

I don't care if they say yes or no to what I have to offer. Why? Because I know that if I speak to 10 of them everyday, I'll weed through the ones that aren't interested, and find plenty enough that are to be able to maintain a profitable business.

I actually enjoy talking to business owners now. If they have a few minutes I don't mind shooting the shit about business, asking them what types of advertising they use, what they're seeing results from, and what they'd like do away with.

I actually had a business owner last week tell me how impressed he was with my cold-calling, and asked if I'd be interested in doing cold calling for his business. No joke. Now, I didn't think I was all that impressive, but he did, and that's all that counts.

The sooner you embrace cold calling and stop fighting it, the sooner you can stop buying $7 WSO's everyday thinking they're going to provide you with the "tool you need" to secure more offline clients. The tool you need is probably in your pocket or sitting in front of you right now. It's your phone!

If you're not willing to pick up the phone and speak to a business owner, or hire someone else to do it, you're going to have a very hard time with offline marketing.

Think about it like this: You're a business owner talking to another business owner. They're not on a higher level than we are.

Stop being so self-conscious and just relay the message.

Very cool and inspiring post, and one which I totally agree with. Cold calling is something which most people are so fearful of, and the reason is, is not because they have tried it, it is because they have heard "horror" stories, most of which are untrue of how a business owner screamed down the phone or something of that nature. It just does not happen. You may get them telling you they are not interested in what you are offering, but the approach is so so important. If you come across salesy, they will never buy from you, if you come across as you are having a discussion and want to listen to their pain points, you will see them being more receptive.

All I'm saying is this, cold calling flat out works. Try it, you will be very surprised with the results.
    Great thread Matt

One more fact, I just landed a €10,000 client because I called him to ask him about why his website was saying under construction. He said he had someone to do it 2 years ago but nothing happened. Now I made about 30 calls to get that one yes.. and that is a good number for cold calling. You have to work your ass off but its worth it

Great, there's too little of this kind of positive feedback.

Thanks for letting others and us know.

    Good job.

There's nothing magical about prospecting -- just walk in, introduce yourself, and tell them why you're dropping by.

Now let's bump it up from 10 to 20 a day and double your results.

It's nice to see someone that gets it. When you're ready to learn, look around the forum for advice and seek out those that have proven they can deliver and know what they are talking about.

Search "cold calling" "telemarketing" "appointment setting" and see for yourself what others already know.

We wouldn't be talking it up, and wouldn't have survived in business (or in our personal lives) if it didn't work!

To anyone that's wants to suceed in cold calling follow these 2 steps: Reread the original post. Read a tons of posts of the names mentioned in the original post.

Cold calling for me was like learning how to swim. Terrifying at first, eventually second nature.

Mate i am really happy for you that cold calling works out for you, but this statement is bullshit (excuse my france ) i have a offline business and i make good money and i NEVER EVER cold call any company to ask for business... there are many more comfortable ways to skin a cat and make good money... so stating you will have a "very hard time with offline marketing" is simply not true...
