Which Business People Are Best To Meet Face-to-Face After Normal Business Hours?

Hi Guys and Gals,

So I am considering selling web design local.

The sales process would be to set an appointment, meet face-to-face, and close them face-to-face on the first meeting. Typical bread-and-butter stuff.

My only constraint is my time -- this would all be after satisfying my daytime job requirements.

So I'd be looking 4:30PM+ times to schedule appointments.

So my question for all you businessmen is this -- in your experience, which business owners are most reachable after normal 9-5 business hours?

Lawyers, Plumbers (maybe); anybody got any other ideas?

Any help is appreciated.

    Almost anyone, to be honest.

Most business owners don't work 9-5 (you're doing it in this thread! ). They work until they're tired of working for the day.

If they think they're going to get a good deal and value out of meeting you at 8pm, they'll meet you. I've met business owners at all random times of the day.

What Voasi said...its all about value from their point of view so frame it in such a way that they would be missing out to say no.

    Also...hint hint...check out chiropractors

A business owner doesn't have to be in the office 24/7. Why do you think they have employees to work for them?

And true, you can meet almost anybody after regular office hours. The real question is if they want to meet you.

What Voasi said is correct. If they think they're going to be getting something out of the meeting, then why not meet with you?

I find the best ones to meet after hours are restaurant owners and not before then.
Plumbers seem to be too tired to even listen after hours, see if you can catch them

a lot of business people are hands on these days so they would generally not be available during traditional working hours so it is best to work around what suits them...

The ones who want to meet with you!!

If they qualify IN by needing what you have to offer, having the budget and personality fit to match with you, then they'll want to meet with you. Even if it's outside of their normal activities, they'll make the time for it.

IF they are interested in meeting with you outside normal hours, THEN they are seriously qualifying themselves IN. That is someone who has serious pain.

I have been meeting outside regular business hours with clients for many years. If they're serious, they make the time to meet. There's no magic to it--how you sell is more important than what you sell.

Frankly, that never occurred to me, and it's good information.

Reardon: I don't know if it's so much after hours, as it is away from their business. Plumbers, electricians, home inspectors....all are used to dealing with people away from their place of business. They may be slightly easier to get to meet you in a restaurant.

I own a retail store. I sell outside my store, but (for whatever reason) it's very difficult to get me to see a rep outside my place of business. And after hours? No. At my home? Never. But I used to be a lot more flexible.
And getting people to meet me outside their place of business was always such a minor hurtle.

Think of all the people who owned businesses, that you sold insurance to in their home. This is no different.
