Google + Local Optimization

So I am doing Google + Local for an attorney, and understandably so, he doesn't want to give me his login for his google account as I would then have access to everything.

Is there some type of administrator account or something that I don't know about that he can set me up with?

    I don't think so.

The only way to do that would be to create a brand new account only for the Google Places page, (screw Google+ Local!!), but then you'd have to go through the activation process again.

If he has trust issues, make a list, optimize the videos, optimize the pictures, and hand them over to him to upload and make the changes to his page with.

You could do it together via Join.Me or TeamViewer or even Skype.
You are at your computer, the lawyer is at theirs.
You can't see the login info, but you get access to the account.
Then you optimize the page in front of them... or, notice the areas that need improvement.
Then like has been said, hand the pics and videos back over to the attorney to upload.

You don't need access for the off-site stuff.

I had this situation with a CPA client of mine. He had tons of confidential stuff in his Google account, so I just sent him images, video links and instructions on what to put where. Join.me would be a VERY easy way to walk him through the process.

Plugging everything into the Google Places dashboard only takes 2-3 minutes, so you won't have a problem.

Why not just claim the listing using a different account? It's easier to say let him do it or do it with him next to you but you will need to go back and check on the listing over and over again to make sure things are correct. I had clients that refused to give me their login information so I created a new account and claim the listing using the account.. you need to explain to your client since they don't want to give you access to the listing it will take a while to claim it etc.

I just had my bakery client make me admin (send me an admin invite) so I can also manage the page.

Have him check the settings panel and send you an admin invite to manage the page.

    Super easy!

Multiple admins aren't available for Google + Local pages. You're confusing them with the Google Plus Business Pages. Different animal

      Yep totally different animal.

You can merge the 2 types of pages and THEN the G+ Local page is managed in G+ so you could do multiple admins.

But be advised many business types don't qualify to merge yet and it you merge one that does not qualify things can get pretty buggy. And even if a business qualifies to merge it's STILL pretty BETA and buggy, so I'd wait til things are running a little smoother.

        Thanks Linda.

As you and Kung fu dropped in let me ask another questions

About 10 weeks ago I logged into my clients G+local account, added images and video, corrected the business name etc.

Well off and on that listing shows up but what happens is the old listing is showin up 99% of the time with the old name.

When the new listing shows up it shows up with no photos or it will show on the main page as the correct name but when I click on it and go to the page it is the old name all of the sudden or it shows on the top 7 results and if I hover my mouse over it the listing shows up on the right, the new correct, optimized listing with images and stuff but if I then scroll over to the right and click on an image I get an error that the listing can't be found or something like that.

It's ridiculous and I'm not sure where to go from here.

Oh I almost forgot when I log into his admin panel I have two listing now and to delete the old one I have to send a postcard to him, which I've done and am waiting on.

Oops sorry I missed this, hope I'm not too late.

Hope you didn't enter the PIN yet! If not hang on just let me explain.

1st of all: "corrected the business name". Was it a complete name change OR a minor edit? If it was a complete name change you should not edit the existing listing. Are supposed to mark the old listing closed and start a new listing. (Just like you should if a business moves. Don't edit the existing listing.) However if it was an edit like Joe's Italian and you just need to add the word Food, so same name just an edit, then you could change the existing listing.

Sounds like there is an old record AND a new one and they are merged. When listings merge they morph and change and every time you look the data can be different.

Are the stats the same in the dashboard, when you look at the location screen?

If so they are def merged. If not they still sound partially merged.

DO NOT ENTER THE PIN. When listings are merged, never delete/suspend the dupe as it can delete the main listing too. Instead delete>>remove from my account to get it out of there because it's a violation to have 2 in your dashboard.

Then if it pops up as a separate listing on maps, use report a problem to ask Google to get rid of it.

(Sorry for delay getting back with you.)

Thanks Linda. I had tried deleting it and I tried to rremove from my account I thought, but I must not have. I just did it again, hopefully it won't come back.

It was showing up as two different listings in the google places admin panel.

Great advice, Linda. Wish you popped by here more frequently

To the OP and anyone else reading... this is why you should never start claiming listings, requesting PINs, changing data until you speak with someone with experience. Things can get so messed up and set you back several months.

BUT... if you find yourself in that situation, communicate that to the business owner in crystal clear terms. I get so many emails for folks saying that the business owner is getting anxious, impatient, whatever... and all that after only 2 weeks of waiting LOL G+ Local requires a lot of care and patience.
