How do you decide who you're going to target..?

I wondered what criteria others use when creating a B2B prospect profile?

Here's a wee video I produced -

Considering self employment - Creating a Prospect Profile - YouTube

But I'd be interested in...

...what other criteria you chaps may consider when deciding which businesses to target with your B2B offering....

thanks

    I agree with gabrel

Businesses want to make more money and sales, add more customers, and get brand awareness

    ok....

that maybe what they want, but how do you go about targetting them? what specific criteria do you look for or search for and where?

Anyone else want to share in terms of what they include as their criteria in an ideal client profile for example?

    regards

I usually try to target the most profitable industry from my line of work which is internet marketing. Once I find which industry can receive the most value I then try to get 1-2 clients in that field to work with me. Once I work on their website and figure out what works, I now have a testimonial and experience in that industry to go and market others in different locations

I would advise starting with a niche or group of niches you are most familiar with.

My first client didn't go this way, but that's because it was a barter deal.
It was a website in exchange for chiropractic services for my wife and I.

My next client was in a niche I am very familiar with.... HVAC.
I went to school for heating and cooling.
I am certified to work on all heating and cooling equipment.
So, I went after that niche. I could talk the talk.... so to speak.
    I knew the lingo.

From there you pick up a few more in different areas.
Then, you get referrals and it grows from their.

    Hope that helps.

Anyone that knows the importance of marketing; they're advertising in papers, joint ventures, etc.

They're not making it work properly; room for improvement, their sales funnels are lacking.

Retentive customers or high margin products/services; the systems we implement will be most effective for these types, and they have the most to spend.
