        My marketing model isn't a PUSH based model, it's a PULL based model. I do no cold calling, no direct mail. no post cards. I don't PUSH my services with outgoing activities. no. I PULL prospective customers to me, my online profiles, blogs, group posts, forum posts, videos, landing pages and my site. In fact, the majority of the time, I'm leveraging someone else's time, effort, money and marketing to do the hard work for me

        How can I do that? Maybe that's not their problem, issue or challenge? I need to find out what their real issues, challenges and obstacles are so they can decide whether I can help them and that they want to contact ME.

        Why on earth would I call someone I don't know, who doesn't know me, like me or trust me, then try to sell them, and worse...on a Sunday? That would put them into orbit. No. They contact me, when they're ready, have confirmed they have a problem, and want to chat to me with regardds having me fix, address or solve it.

        No. no. no. They dont want me to sit in their home, or office, drinking their coffee using their electric for my laptop, while they think I'm farting on their furniture.

        No, I publish and distribute a number of digital assets and syndicate them about the web, I demonstrate my knowledge, wisdom and experience, and invite pre-start, start-up and survival based business owners to view, watch, read, listen, and even interact, print off, write down, and even engage me with me to find out whether they have a problem, issue or challenge that I may be able to help with.

        And if I do, I try to ask some rather quick, short, snappy, and often soul searching questions...to see whether what I ask, makes sense.

        And I ask these questions, (often by PM, email, skype or phone), I even sometims ask them without having to engage them Not to sell them, but to DISQUALIFY them.

        Afterall, I don't want to interrupt my happiness with someone wanting to get grumpy, screw me down on margin, expecting me to work twice as hard and wait 30+ days to get paid.....hell, no.

        Why would I do that, when I'm getting forum members I've never spoken to me before take a peek at my linkedin profile, others at my slideshare files, docstoc files, articles, blogs, youtube videos etc, and giggle as some signup to my autoresponder on a Sunday night, whilst I watch "miracle on 34th Street on the telly with wife and kids. (Damn, Richard Attenborough plays a convincing santa).

        I gave up hard work years ago Chris (as you know)....and focus now on what makes me smile, and ooze enthusiasm from every gentic pore in my DNA doing what i love to do.

          I hear you loud and clear, but this message is for those that haven't yet moved off their bum and taken any kind of action. There's a few on here.

          I agree with all the stuff you say above, but people are going to struggle to learn pull marketing when they can't put the most basic of actions in place.

    Very straightforward. I like it.

    I keep telling this to my friend, but he just doesn't understand. He tells me over and over that he wants to get into offline marketing, but never does a damn thing! He just reads this forum and tells me about what he read.. o.O He may even read this!

    The only way to truly learn the methods discussed in this forum is action! You need to try things out. Put your toes in the water, no matter how clod you may think it is. Only way to find out is actually getting in. You may find it's not cold at all.

    While people are waiting for their 'pull' strategies to take effect, the bills have to be paid.
    While people are creating their content and submitting it , then waiting for the list to build and the eventual conversions etc, others are making 100 + calls, sending out 500 + mailers a day and getting instant decisions and instant business and instant feedback AND they can still/also have their pull strategies working for them

    Taken some golden nuggets from this forum, the day you say you know it all, you have learnt nothing.

    probably several things on here I have read that some I was already doing but they were given names or explanations and some new stuff.

    Taking those small specs of information from here then applying them in practice can and does help improve what you do, so i would say balance and moderation would be a better way.

    Even the best need and use mentors, this forum can act as a surrogate mentor and help many people in many ways.
