How to find a product to market offline?

Hello,

I'm trying to find a product to market via direct mail, here, in Canada. I'm in Quebec.

I've done quite a bit of research on the net, but pretty much it is all about selling online, on the internet.

There seems to be tons of affiliate programs in the US, not so much in Canada, and when you find one it is simply for online transactions.

Please let me know how I could approach this, I want to find an interesting product and write a letter promoting the product and get a cut on each sale generated.

I know this forum is about "internet" marketing and direct mail might seem old school but there are advantages to the traditional method.

Anyone with experience, please let me know, thanks!

Maybe you would best benefit from dropshipping but rather doing your marketing offline? I'm not sure myself, but a suggestion.

It is simply 'sales' you are talking about, nothing new or mysterious about it. You can become a manufacturers rep., also known as affiliate sales in the online world. To find a product, you have to do the research yourself. What kind of products interest you? Medical Products, Cosmetics, Clothing, Raw Materials, Toys, Automotive Tools, etc., the list goes on and on. You may want to check out a site like Alibaba, many of the manufacturers on there are looking for reps for their products and product lines. You represent the products and get paid commissions.

Go to your local library and get a copy of the RSDS. It's a list of list. People that have bought things thru the mail.

It will tell you how many people are on the list - what they bought - what they paid - how many bought in the last 30,60,90 days (hot list) and a ton more.

Go through these list and you will see what is hot and what people are buying and how much they are willing to pay for it.

    Good luck

I had a look and I'm guessing this RSDS registry is available in the US?

Even then, I found very little information on it on the internet, you know what RSDS stands for and if there would be something similar in Canada? The content seems incredibly helpful.

try www.esources.co.uk, I'm sure they may be other sites, but that will give you insights to manufacturers, drop ship programs, wholesalers - the lot.

I remember a friend of mine used to go "round the doors" selling yellow dusters/cloths
which I think came from Canada and had lemon juice in them i think it was. (we're goin back about 20 years) but he'd knock on doors and clean half the letterbox. He regularly made £300-£400 a week back then selling 3 cloths for £10 i think it was.

    regards
