Steps to make December a Killer Month in Offline

I know a lot of folks feel that December is a wasteland in offline. I hear people saying you can't sell between Dec 15 and Jan 4. And it doesn't have to be that way. December can be a big month.

Here are some examples:

  • I started my offline business in a December. I closed $7,000 of business that month.
  • Dr. Bruno has gone cold calling in December and made good money, closing sales on Christmas Eve.
  • Bradley C has a WSO out that details how he's made December his best month of the year since 1998.

So, don't assume that December is a month for coasting. In fact, if you have a December story or strategy, please offer it below so we can help each other build momentum.

I would start with forming that intention that you'll do good business in December.

Here are two WSO's that talk about selling December. I'm just starting to look at them. So I don't have reactions yet (and I'm not an affiliate for either).

a. http://www.warriorforum.com/warrior-...step-step.html

b. http://www.warriorforum.com/warrior-...one-month.html

And here's my December story. I've written on the forum elsewhere but I want to repeat it here for fodder.

I started in November 2009, the tail end after Thanksgiving. My strategy was just to get out the phone book, look in the yellow pages, find a section with lots of big ads, and write letters to the folks that I thought wouldn't be getting lots of retail business. So I hit mostly attorneys, plumbers, roofers, the usual suspects.

I got a handful of appointments. I talked with people about what was working and what wasn't. Then offered them $500 online marketing plan. A couple people jumped at it.

I turned that around very fast and included recommendations and priced out the work. The folks who asked for the marketing plans also asked me to do the work. It was that simple.

What's worked for you?

Usually December is dead for me UNTIL dec. 15th. The time you mentioned, is actually one of the best times for me historically.

I remember last year I was freaking out because from Thanksgiving until December 15th, it was absolutely DEAD for me. Couldn't get a single sale, at all. Dec. 15th started a sale spree that lasted well into January.

    Good post.

I looked at my income for last year in December and January and both months were low. I am already close to my December earnings from last year.

I have been posting everywhere and letting people know that I am NOT taking holidays. I am a writer/proofreader. I am suggesting people place extra orders and then set the dates for each post to appear on their sites. This way they get more work done and their sites can flourish while they take a break.

So, having said that, if you need my help, get n now and get your work done so your sites can still appear active while you're taking a break. (hint hint)

This is my first December and I literally just started in offline marketing so I don't expect much BUT I've read that lots of companies budgets expire at the end of the year and if they don't use any money that's left, their budget gets cut that much next year, so they are looking for reasonable ways to spend it and get a return on it if at all possible. I guess it would be good to think about what kind of businesses run marketing on an actual budget and might have some left over to spend quickly. I learned this from listening to the superstar Maria G.

This is the foundation of Dr. Bruno's December WSO as well. It looks very provocative.
