How do you publish your own book?

I am sorry if this is in the wrong section of the forum.
But can someone tell me how do you actually publish your own book or a public domain book offline?

What are the processes and what kind of capital do we have to have in order to publish a book?

Appreciate if anyone with this experience can enlighten me of the whole processes. Thanks in advance!

    You can use somethung like CreateSpace to your book printed.
    You could also just Google on demand printing services.

    Costs will vary. Depending on what extras you need on top of that.
    I am putting a book together and it will cost me $2,000.
    Then a few hundred more for some copies on hand.

      How's the process like? I mean can I use overseas online publishing company or should I use local company? and then what else is the next step?

      Assuming I have a public domain book which I want to re-publish, how should I go about doing it, if you don't mind?

        If you want a book that you can sell on Amazon.com, Createspace is the way. Just log on and it will take you through the process. Someone with graphic design skills can do everything for free.

          Hi Claude thanks for the information. By the way once I got the books printed how do I market it? Do I have to go around bookshops and strike a deal with them? Is this the normal practice for those who sell books offline?

            There is very little money in selling books. The vast majority of popular business books sell less than 5,000 copies. Most sell less than 1,000 copies...over their entire lifetime.
            Books are sales tools to lead to bigger sales. Think of them as a really great looking business card.

            Books make it easier to sell whoever reads the book, because you are an expert in their eyes..and a celebrity. Books make it possible for you to get interviewed on the radio, in magazines, and on blogs. This gets you more book sales and more people on your mailing list...to sell bigger products to.

            If you really just want to sell a ton of books, interview CEOs of large companies, talk about them in your book, and they will buy a copy for every employee they have.

            Want to sell books? Get them reviewd anywhere you can. Get interviewed anywhere you can. You will have to give free copies of your book away, but that's part of marketing.

            Really, you need to learn how to market your book, by reading a book on how to market your book.

            I mean no disrespect, but it's obvious you are a complete newcomer to the idea. Do some research. Buy the book I mentioned.

            Nobody can give you enough information here that you'll be able to create a complete plan for marketing your books.

            But I'll give you one idea that I use very profitably. In the "Suggested reading" section of my books, I just list the first 25 books (and their authors) I find in an Amazon.com search for my niche topic.

            Then I let Amazon.com scan my entire book, so people can pick out pages to read before they buy the book. But the real reason I do it is because every time someone does a search for any one of the "recommended" books, or their author...Amazon pulls up my book , and it's right under the book they wanted to see.

            There, now you know a secret. Buy the book and do some research.

              Hi Claude, I really appreciate all of the information above. It's true, I am a total, absolute and completely clueless about this part of the business. I am always looking for ways to expand my business.

              I had this idea a couple days ago when I read a book about people making a killing selling popular public domain books offline. In theory, the idea of selling popular public domain books is logical and feasible.

              So I was curious to see what's the process like being a book publisher if I were to thread in this aspect of business.

    Kinko's. 3 ring binder. Print both sides of the paper. Add cd's or video. Sell it for $300.00
