How Do You Use LinkedIn to Get Clients?

I've been wanting to use linkedIn to reach out to some potential clients but I'm not sure what approach to take.

What are some of the methods you use to get clients and or traffic from LinkedIn?

    Hi Rahel

There's quite a bit of info about that in this forum. Have a scratch about and I think there are even some free ebooks etc. A friend of mine has used this to great effect - its a really interesting channel.

Linkedin takes effort and a little bit of time. One thing that has helped
me is to send a message to every new connection.

I introduce myself and let them know I look forward to building
a good networking relationship with them.

I finish off with a little bit about what I do, then put my blog link.
(I have noticed I get 1 out of 4 that go to my site)

      Finding juicy Linkedin prospects

Join groups that have the types of clients you are after. Use the
search feature to the top right. Switch it from people to 'groups'.

Enter in something like 'small business' and you'll get a bunch
of groups. Careful on spamming the group. I like to post advice
on them but what I really like it for is sending connection requests
      to ideal prospects.

They seem to be more open to you when you are in a group together.

This has worked very well for me and I am sure it can for yo too

I created my own company page. Then added my 3 different product/services. Then I share each one of these different product and services to 50 LinkedIn Connections and Groups I belong to daily. I don't write a sales type email, I ask them what a perfect client is for them and best way for me to refer said client to them. It opens up a convo.
Oh...my VA's in Philippines do this for me daily.

Try just talking to people within your niche or your target niche. The best ways I have personally found to make money online are just getting to know people and finding out what their wants/needs are so you can find ways to sell them what they want/need. Then scaling that service/product up from a 1 to 1 sale to a bigger and more automated sales funnel. Linkedin is a good way to do this because you can link with other people in the niche you want to target and then simply start an interaction with those people. Might want to try Linkedin ads as well, I'm thinking about trying that out myself.

Posting in groups, answering questions on things you know about and connecting to those that are in your industry are ways that we have gotten some customers just in the last week.

It seems that people want to see that you are active (kind of like on here) and that you give back, and that you know what you are talking about.

Irish Intuition--that's what we do too, and if it's someone who initially keeps their email private, I wait until they accept my request and then message them. It's been very well received thus far.

Also, don't be scared to join groups that can use your services instead of joining just the groups with people that DO what you DO.

Two new clients today came from groups that we joined and found have no direction on how to market themselves!

Absolutely agree. Join groups get involved. Post useful info related to marketing that type of business (that you know about). I've killed it many times like this.
Also linked to this is to become a top influencer of the week. Like most things if you appear to be 'the' person everyone wants to get involved. I joined a group last week and posted a question. I had a couple of replies and responded to them (this is key). That lead to me appearing on the influencer of the week chart (right hand side inside groups) and then it just went mental. I interacted with 31 people within my thread and am the top influencer of the week in that group. I have a couple of emails from that asking if I can help them.

No question. I have been trying to get into a dentists group but
they are having none of it. Joined several other types of groups
and have already received connection requests from people in
those groups, just based on my posts.

    Success Strategy

    Define a specific goal
-Think of the people in the best position to help you reach your goal
    -Use "Advanced Search"
-Look at the list for common contacts
-Ask the person you have the best relationship with for a Magic Mail

Upload the contacts from your email program to LinkedIn. -Connect with (old) colleagues and (old) classmates using LinkedIn tools.
-Join the Groups which are in line with your goals.

Find the people that can help you
-Search on their name (if you know their names)
-Use Advanced Search with the parameters you have used to make your goal clear (for example: location, industry, function, key words)
-Browse in the network of your connections
-Look in the member lists of the Groups you joined
    -Use "Companies"

    Some do's and don'ts
-Be proactive. Just making a Profile is (most of the times) not enough.
-Build relationships. Even if they are not the right person, they might be able to introduce you to the people who hire or recruit you.
-Be active in Groups and help others: this will raise your -visibility and credibility.
DON ' T use LinkedIn as a sales tool, but as a research tool. -Start building your network NOW and spend each week some time expanding and maintaining your network.
