Is there any value in ...

WEBSITE A having 1000 pages containing an anchord word text link to WEBSITE B

Does it help WEBSITE B to have 1000+ inbound links all from the same site (WEBSITE A) or is it counter productive?

thanks

I don't think it would hurt... unless... it was the only domain linking to website B. In that case, I don't think you'd see much in the way of ranking improvement. Of course, you have to ask if the link makes sense. Generally, you have to be careful with links in footers and sidebars that will appear on every page of a website.

Maybe you're asking this because of the recent post concerning a few products that easily produce this number of pages... that's not how I would use it.

    Hi KFB

We came across a product called SEO localize which allows you to import a list of items (e.g. place names) and create short codes to instantly create posts in your WP blog creating a new url containing each of the items in your list.

So you could for example create -

    site.com/accountant-in-edinburgh
    site.com/accountant-in-manchester
    site.com/accountant-in-london
    .
    .
etc (1000s of pages - depending on size of items on import file)

if there is a link with anchor text to siteB.com (on each localised page) - will it count as multiple inbound links or as they all from same domain.

Curious to know if there are other software for wordpress that allows importing from 2 lists to create personalised shortcode urls?

    thanks

it will count as multiple inbound links, but they wont have as much value as if those links were spread out among many unique sites.

Well look at it from Google's point of view.

Do you really think that they are going to give your SiteB a boost in link juice or rankings when they see a 1,000 inbound links all from the same site?

Do you really think that they are going to give your SiteB any kind of boost when they see that those 1,000 links have been generated through a software program instead of being naturally created through people?

And even if they don't realize it right away how long do you think it will take before Google sees what you are up to with this software program, and gives you a Google Slap?

And finally, if you are building these links for a customers website, when that said customers site gets Google Slapped and drops into oblivion what do you think that will do for your reputation as an offline consultant?

SEO Localize was developed by Ryan Shaw a while back. Some guy was reselling it in the classifieds section and when I told Ryan about it, Ryan commented that he can sell it all he wants since it doesn't work anymore. He also said he's working on an upgrade.

So... I don't have SEO Localize, but Local Pages Ninja can use as many shortcodes as you can come up with. Again... I think it's all in how you use it. It's a tool, not a magic bullet to page 1 rankings, so you have to get creative with how you create your pages.

You can use spintax with LPN, which I like, since that would allow me to rotate embedded videos and images, varying things up a bit. From my experience with the tool, if you're targeting different geographical areas, varying the embedded media and varying text enough using spintax, you can certainly claim many page 1 rankings. I've had great success with the tool. SEO Localize had some other features that I didn't need, and I found the LPN community massive at the time, so there's a forum with a ton of info and best practices available.

What I wouldn't do with this is create thousands of pages at once. I would roll out a couple dozen every 2-3 weeks perhaps. You have to be smart with it.

I have a friend that used MOWG (a similar tool) to create thousands of backlinks to his money site. He did exactly what you're asking about. His rankings tanked. Too much, too soon, and all from the same domain.

One last thing... use it on a lead gen site as I described above. I wouldn't use it on an important, branded domain unless you were just using it to quickly create pages for office locations, so the end result makes sense.

Here's how I would do that:

    1. Install the plugin "widgets on pages"

    2. Create a Widget for every location.

    3. Using a "text" widget, put in the schema code for the business location.

    4. You may want to use that same widget for a description of the location, and image and / or video. Just make sure you style everything properly in that text widget. ie: The citation could float: left, the description could float: left, after that. Next <div style="clear:both;"></div> and then put the image and / or video code beneath. Pretty sure that would work. My coding skills aren't perfect and I'd have to test it.

    5. Grab all the Widgets on Pages shortcodes and put them in your shortcode list for LPN.

    6. Create another LPN shortcode listing with geo locations. Make sure the lists correspond perfectly in order so you get the right location with the right widgets on pages info.

    6. Create your LPN page, using the LPN shortcodes that would bring in the respective Widget On Pages widget with the correct titles.

Of course, I would only go through all of this if I had dozens of locations. If you only have a few, it's less work to just create the pages manually.

You could also do this for service area, and I've seen it work great for electricians... but it seems so spammy in that case, I would worry about how long that would last. I suppose you could always get rid of those pages and resubmit your site to WMT if things went sour.
