Questions on making money via Hosting

Hello everyone.

Firstly I'd like to wish you all a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy, Prosperous New Year!

I'm new to WF and have noticed some really good threads/advise here - thanks very much for sharing the same.

I come from a Finance background (academically) so I can 'give back' to the community by giving advise on Accounting/Finance related topics (not Taxation though!)

Right, my question(s). I saw 2-3 threads that mentioned the following business model:
Buy inkthemes or similar WP themes.
Contact small business owners and offer to give them a website; free web design and development (using the template).
Get a hosting account to host their website(s) and charge them for hosting on a monthly basis.

Simply brilliant model, I think.

However, is it legal to:
(a) Use the templates purchased from inkthemes and similar theme providers and sell them onto business owners? I mean in this model, we're not charging them for the theme per se, but are still giving them the theme for their respective businesses
(b) Charge for hosting when we're not really a hosting provider. We're using our own godaddy or hostgator hosting account and charging them a monthly amount.

I look forward to hearing from you guys.

Thanks very much.

Best,

Vashisht

If you have developer rights why would it not be illegal. However, as I usually say people on warrior forum are not lawyers so I would suggest that you talk to a Lawyer if you have legal concerns.

I would not use godaddy however, I do sell websites and host them myself. When I first started and only had 10 clients I used hostgator however, I now have a dedicated server. I would suggest to start out small, using hostgator, and then move up and purchase (rent) a dedicated server.

    Just my two cents.
