Tool to look up revenue estimates of local businesses

Is there a simple tool anywhere that can provide estimations of a private companies annual revenue and/or number of employees? I think I saw something on Warrior Forum once where you could type in your business name and it would pull up local competitors and show you there estimated revenue, number of employees, etc. Obviously there is not a reliable way to get an entirely accurate number using a tool like that, but does anyone know where I can find something that can simplify this process?

    These guys sell B2B marketing lists and you can sort by almost any criteria. When I am working with local clients, I just select their category and play with the numbers. It is free to do this sorting and will at least tell you how many businesses are in the local area and what their revenue is, how many employees etc...

    Of course, if you actually want to know specific info about the companies you could buy the list. You could also buy lists at any number of list services. But, I like Experian for this sort of high level research. Because of who they are, I really trust that their data is quite accurate.

    At infofree.com, with the paid service, you can select an individual company and know their revenue range and credit rating.
