Kindle me that real estate, profiting?

I am currently caught in the Kindle craze, maybe a bit late compared to others but the fact is, Kindle keeps getting momentum. I did try to google Kindle and real estate but basically got nowhere. So, here is my question to you;

Would using Kindle as a marketing tool help you as a Realtor to promote yourself as in actually writing a book? To be a bit more specific, what if you were a Realtor and wrote a book about "Pacific Heights" (a fictional "hood" for right now). I.e. you had extensive knowledge about a particular neighboorhood and you wrote a book about it.

Would that help you to basically take total control of potential home buyers in that hood? And if so, how else could you promote it? And if you were not a Realtor, could you as an offline marketer, write that book for a Realtor? And if you did just that, what would you charge?

    When I was in the mortgage business I wrote multiple books.

    "Why Are You Always Broke?" - Geared towards refinancing, living in a budget and getting debt free quickly.

    "How To Buy A Home With Zero Down" - self explanatory

    "How To Buy Government Foreclosed Homes" - Self explanatory

    There were several reasons why I wrote the books.

    1. It made me the obvious expert
    2. People were impressed that I wrote multiple books
    3. I gave the books to my clients at our first meeting. Law of reciprocity.
    4. I used them to generate leads. Instead of a free report I offered a free book.
    5. Every time I wrote a book I was able to get on local talk radio shows and talk about the book and my services. I had the radio station record me and send me the MP3 of the show which I used on my website. More social proof.
    6. I also got coverage in the local papers. Which of course I turned the articles written about me and the book into PDF's and added them to my site. I also included a photo copy of these in some of the direct mail I did.

    There are multiple ways to use a book. It would be really cool these days to say you were a best selling author on Amazon. I would put that in every advertisement and marketing piece I could.

    So to answer your question, yes, it is a good idea. There are ton of ways to use them.

    By the way, after every radio show my phone was ringing off the hook by the time I got back to my office because I offered a free copy of the book to the listeners of the show.
