How Much is a Web Dev Lead Worth?

I got a call from one of my ads selling mobile sites today and the guy wants to build a local service directory site and have some other work done on his sites. I'm figuring about $2000 in total but that's a pretty wild guess as I'm in no position to quote, provide or sell those services.

So I'm looking to sell the lead to a local web development co. that I'm talking with tomorrow. So the magic question is how much is the lead worth. I'm thinking $100 which would be 5% if my guestimate is right. I figure if their net margins are 10% they can afford to pay me 5%. Any thoughts?

Thanks.

Certainly if it is qualified, 100 bucks bought outright seems fair enough, or a 20% commission on the sale might be better.

Without knowing all the deliverables, I'd guesstimate a range of $2000 to $6000 - or more. I agree with Mr. Durham's 20% - keeping in mind the development of a relationship with this web dev company. (If they are good enough for your consulting clients.)

Why cant you provide this? Finding someone to outsource this to wouldnt be difficult. If your going approach them with the lead why not approach someone with the work and pocket the difference?

Mainly because when I sit down and start talking with the guy and he tells me what he wants to do and starts asking me a bunch of questions (like he started to do today), I won't have a clue and don't want to look like an idiot and lose him.
