Use Native Language or English?

If I want to sell a product in a non-English country, will it be better to translate the site to the native language or it's OK to leave it in English?

I'm thinking about the culture aspect. I'm not sure if people in non-English countries prefer to buy only in their native language websites (national pride, credibility etc).

I would love to hear some comments.

    It may depend on the country you are targeting and what product you are selling. Some people may think that English is good, some others may think that it is not good. But if I was going to sell X product in A country, I would prepare X product in A language.

    Translate it.

    However, the problem is the people will want to deal with you in their language. If all you know is Babelfish, it's not going to work out.

    I mean, you might get some business dealing in english, but I can guarantee you 100% that it won't be nearly as effective.

    What market are you trying to reach?

    You may in fact want multiple lang options.

    Just remember get a true translation from a professional if not a complete rewrite for each lang you choose.

    Do not use an online translator. They will help get the basics but to truly be professional you should hire a translation professional and copywriter for each.

      That's for sure, only native speakers to translate. I never use automatic translation.

    Uhm in other countries, always go with your native language, and as you see profits, buy some freelancer to translate it to english aswell.

    Works best for me.

    You know I live in the US and there's no problem with which one I use, lol. Well if you're prospect lives on same country say Japan and it happened that that prospect is your neighbor, then I don't think english language is the language you'd prefer to use.

    It depends on the country. There are non-English countries where English is a second language and is widely used. For those countries, I suggest use English.
