For those that have setup a coupon system for their offline clients, how would you setup a one time only coupon so that customers cannot reuse the same coupon.

You should probably look at my post: "Crush it with daily deals" - lots of useful info in there.

You should post an actual working link mate.

People might get some useful info from your knowledge/post, if they can actually see it (without having to search for it).

      Kind regards,

That's entirely the point. There so much $ in being able to find info.

Can your customer's system handle one time use coupons? If their system isn't set up for it then it might be more effort trying to handle it vs. just putting "Valid for one visit only. Exp. 2/28/13" on the coupon.

People are for the most part honest. And those that are not can assume you are tracking it even if you are not. And those who truly want to abuse the system will get another phone number or email address or whatever to get multiple coupons if they want to use them anyways.

I haven't built the system as yet, just wanted to get a high level over view of the process I should use first.
I see your point though, in that its probably not worth the additional effort to put such a system in place to track as it can be easily bypassed if customers really wanted to.

I'm always a big believer in KISS.

Also if the deal is profitable does it matter if someone uses it twice.

Would they rather have $20 twice from someone abusing a coupon or only once and never see him again?

While appealing to deal seekers isn't alwaysd a good policy if handled correctly it can add revenue and profit.

I agree that it would be best to make things as simple as possible.
The whole point of this is to get emails from customers and using a coupon as the incentive to sign up.
