Anyone Thinking About Using Google Places - Use It =]

I'm only saying this because for months and months I heard people talking about how important local search traffic is, and I could not understand why.

Last time I tried to rank a google places, I shouldn't have. The listing had already been created years ago, the citations/NAPS did not match up, different phone numbers, duplicate listings, and for 9 months I played around with the listing untill I deleted it one day and told myself "never again am I touching google places".

Well, that was a very stupid and naive decision to make.

About 3 months ago I made a second website, linked it to a new address, and this time built citations the right way (by outsourcing them to a guy who does them the right way ). I also outsourced map citations as well, and book marked all of them for good measure.

On top of that, I've been outsourcing my review posting to a company I won't mention right now. But so far they're doing a tremendous job.

All in all, its costed me $20 for 3 citation gigs on fiver, 1 map citation gig, then $50 to outsource the reviews which I started 2 months ago.

Long story short, over the last 2 weeks, after all this "work", our listing has started to get serious traffic. I honestly wasn't expecting that much traffic from a simple google listing.

We broke our record today getting 4 calls in 1 day, which is outstanding. Just incredible considering how easy it was to set up and rank.

I NEVER blasted reviews on my listing, always dipfed them, and the citation people I use do an excellent job. This has worked so well that not I'm considering setting up another website, registering it to a different address up north, and repeating the process.

Overall, my attitude of google places has changed dramatically. I've gone from despising it/hating it with a passion, to loving it. And if you have any beef with google places like I did, I suggest you drop it asap. :p

Good luck guys - Red

ps. I know its called google+ now but I'm not going back and editing everything lol.

It just shows what can be achieved with persistence. Well done.

What amount of searches are being done for the keyword + city to get that kind of volume?

    Thanks for the positive words.

The keywords have a fairly low search volume, but I was able to target 3 of them.

One of them is 720 searches a month locally.
    Another is 590.
    Then the last is 320.

I use my keywords in all my citations, on my website, and try to get them plugged in the reviews as well. BTW, I don't think 4 calls a day will be a regular thing for now. I'm sure the calls will keep bouncing back and forth randomly over the next couple of weeks.

But I do like the fact that I can still rank a lot higher in the top 7 box for various towns, get more reviews, and get even more traffic. Our traffic slope has progressively been getting higher every couple of weeks. Thats what I'm excited about the most. I also do youtube and craigslist, and between these 3 we get an impressive amount of business. It really is just about persistence and sticking with something untill it works. Just like you said.

I love Google Local too! I'm currently optimising it for one of my clients and it's going really well so far, 2nd place for 500 local searches per month in just 2 weeks optimisation!

It's a really powerful tool if you use it properly.

Everything give results when done in proper way. and Making a mess clean is always trouble.

I also faces this while working with some of companies which gives me SEO task and when I checked Various duplication in NAP on different places. This is hardest but It can be good. contact the Mods of websites or use contact us form to do so. I know this is time taking and maybe you know it but its what I do for my work. Try to Claim and Phone verify incorrect listing etc. and its not work of days. it can took months to make mess clean.

Yep! Google Places was the lifeline of my detailing business (soon to be reopened). I have been ranking #1-3 for about 3 years by having 29/30 score, proper citations, videos and photos, and lots of great reviews with keywords.

It's an amazing tool once you know how to work it properly.

Nice to hear that you are having success. I think anyone in here knows that it isn't always as easy as it sounds to make money online. Sounds like you are doing well. I'm still working on the part where I get steady phone calls. It's hard work even though you know that your service is good and these owners could really use your help. It's frustrating sometimes.

Great to see your success with Google

I'm honestly trying to sell Google+ pages SEO for my clients rather than traditional SEO. Which is far too unstable.

If you can combine a great Google Listing with a Mobile site then BOOM, you got some great business coming in.

    RedShifted,
Thanks for the information. I have been wondering about how well Google Places actually works and really how to use it effectively. You've answered my questions.
