Nice to witness the fights between those giants, brings nice ideas to my mind. Not sure if Groupon will die with that move of Google but one thing I know for sure is that nobody has a guaranteed #1 spot at anything nowadays. Everybody has to work hard and innovate and make people's lives easier to stay at #1.

I don't really see that as direct competition to groupon.

As far as I can see the main attraction to groupon is the the advertiser gets to use groupon's list.

With google they don't supply you with a list. Not really comparing the same things.

Must feel pretty bad now, unless they can turn it around dramatically. With the benefit of hindsight, we can all make perfect decisions.

Didn't bother him at all since he pretty much cashed out right after that with the big Russian investment. The problem is that 6 billion dollar offer came with a 3 year earn out so they never would have gotten the full 6 billion.

That being said, Groupon is nice to get a quick hit but giving up 75% margin is expensive (50% discount plus another 25% to Groupon). I have set up a couple cafes that do it through their Facebook fan pages. What is nice, you can run it just like groupon but instead of building groupon's business, they are growing their own, and even if they spend money on Facebook ads, the net dollars to them are quite significant. And, they don't have to wait 60 days to get paid by groupon.

Did anyone see the valuation hit Living Social just took?

These days, the consumer is being bombarded with offers and deals left right & centre.

So many online deals that I feel like I'm getting banner blindness to them. They come into my inbox and I rarely open them. It's too much. I guess it's time to unsubscribe from some.

I agree with above...I use slickdeals.net because they have a local section for my city and they do a nice job of aggregating all the deals there.

Just wonder when Groupon will die while they are making lost profit for last one year.
If this year they still unable to get out from it , they will kill by Google Offers.
