How to Increase Google Places Conversions

Hey Guys,

I'm hoping you can shed some light on how I can improve my Google Places visibility and conversion rate.

I have a music store in Grand Rapids. I've had a Google Places page for the store for quite a while but haven't done much with it in terms of seo or driving conversions.

A portion of the store's income comes from guitar lessons. I've optimized (somewhat) my website for guitar lessons. My store, Grand River Music shows up 3rd in the 7-pack.

I've had 4003 impressions since Jan 1st with 101 actions. 474 impressions were derived from the query "guitar lessons". In that time, I've had about 11 people fill out the contact form on the website for a free guitar lesson.

What can I do to improve conversions?

Thanks so much for your help!

Terry

Is there a category for guitar lessons? If yes, add it.

Add more photos. Name them with your keywords before you do so.

The above is the url of one your photos. Notice that it ends in exterior.jpg?
If you'd had named it guitar-lessons-grand-rapids you'd have had Google robots count your page down for guitar lessons Grand Rapids.

Right a better description, to include your keywords yet be appealing.

I hope that this information will be of help to you.
It might be helpful if you add in the category of "Guitar Retailer". Also add that same information to your website in regards to selling of guitars and other musical instruments.

Here is the description from your website: 'Sign up today for a Free Guitar Lesson, Bass, Banjo, or Mandolin Private Music Lesson Teachers in Grand Rapids'

Here is the description from Guitar Center (which has the "A" spot): "Guitar Center is the world's largest musical instrument retailer. Shop Guitars, Bass, Drums, Amps, DJ Gear, Keyboards, Pro-Audio and more. Most orders ship free!"

They play up that they are a retailer. You do hold the "A" spot for searches done in the Grand Rapids area for the search term of "Guitar Lessons".

If you have never done so, try an Adwords campaign. If you have not done so in the past, Google can (you'll have to ask for it) provide you with a $100 adwords credit. Use their keyword selection to review your site and come up with all the various search terms, then set the area for the ads to be shown no more than 10 miles radius. After the fee credits are gone, look at the results and find out what search terms had the most impressions. Those are the keywords that people in your area are most interested in.

    Almost forgot!
Put your phone number (in big, bold type) up by the business name. Also put in a call to action such as "Call us at...", or even "CALL US NOW".

Get more customers to write some positive reviews. Send them an incentive to do so (maybe 5-10% off the next lesson).

Also reply to the bad reviews. I hate to admit it but some bad reviews usually turns me off to a company. And I know it could be an pain in the butt customer or a rival business but if you reply to them it shows good customer service.
