hey guys i'm having a huge problem here i entered the online marketing world since 2009 but have not made a significant income, bought a number of products due to my lack of confidence some good and some just a repeat of what the other product said overall, all of lthem together have have helped me gain a great understanding of how the web works even though it didn't have to be that way but oh whatever some learn early some later no regrets there.Anyways what my greatest problem is in all these years since 09 is my thinking is always limited to my 9-5 job which i currently have and has funded my webpages and info products till date cause think about it everything costs whether its outsourcing, ppc, what have you and i've realized i have to invest alot to get alot more. the problem is what if you don't have that big budget to get alot more in the longrun??? especially when your working with less than 300 dollars a month after a carnote, rent and what have u is deducted. I was challenged by this one 20 year kid i was web brokering, for built a site in late December 011 and by mid 012 was banking 10k a month after getting his site to rank in google for some competitive keywords overall he mad about 24 k after inveating about 4k how do ya like that a noob makes more than X15 times of your 4 year experience in the biz in only 6 months...booya in your face. The point of this whole story guys and gals i need some help to get out of the low budget thinking but i have no idea how cause i feel like i can't make it without it any ideas anyone?

Your story of that 20/yo kid means one thing only - his strategy works and yours do not. The limited budget is not a problem, it's the system you are using.

I'd suggest you start working on something that works long term. Figure out what you have right now, re-group, and determine what you will continue using and what not.

We all run into this problem from time to time, but if you can be creative and resourceful enough, you can just be like that kid. Remember, there's a method to the madness.

  • One thing I noticed from the stories in this forum and from the stories I heard from other VAs is that business owners who don't understand IM or go into it half-assed usually fail within the year. It has nothing to do with the tools they're using. It has more to do with the fact that they don't understand what they're doing. So they keep making the same mistakes and they don't use marketing tools correctly to get the right results.
Look at business models that you understand completely and works long term. If you understand what's happening in your business, you'll know how to fix whatever problems you would encounter. Money is a factor but you don't need a lot of money to start making money. Invest your limited budget on tools that you know would work for your business, whether it's paid ads, ppc, or seo. If possible, do everything yourself first so you'll get a better idea on how each step of your IM strategy is supposed to work.

How many pitches are you making per week?

I don't care if you have a 9-5. What about your days off? Sat/Sun - Spend the whole day pitching. If you go into 30 businesses per day on each of those two days, you will do more than most people and you WILL have work to do.

    Don't sit and wonder. SELL.

What exactly are you trying to do?
You've posted in "Offline Marketing Discussions" but say you have been in the online
    marketing world since 2009.
Are you providing internet marketing services to other businesses?

Skange - sounds like the old 80/20 rule. Everywhere you look it exists, in some cases it's a skewed percentage, like in America. 1% own more wealth than the 99%, but whatever.

I could share a bunch of buzzwords that relate to you, but you can be doing everything 'right' and doing it all and still only be the 80% of the people. You want to be the 20%.

It comes down to knowing exactly what areas you need to tweak, like maybe mindset or price.

Bottom line you can't get em all, and a half dozen clients at $2k per month is way better than 25 clients at $500 per month. Focus the energy on the exact perfect client, and get em.

Grab my free starter kit on the homepage of the link below. I have a free webinar as well that gives a lot of tips. I've been selling to businesses for over 20 years and selling this service for over 7 years.
