How do you leverage a published book in your personal life?

Hey,

I recently attended an event by Joel Bauer and he was explaining how his
book help him get upgraded in first class or get the best room in hotel with
out extra charge.

I wonder if you guys who had published book have used your book as a leverage in your personal life. If yes, how?

Thank you

Ryan

First. Great Avatar. In a different forum, I have the exact same one.

People that dress like priests (or wear a collar) get upgraded sometimes as a courtesy.

A published book gets you automatic credibility in business. It's similar to being on TV. Now people think you're special.

I have a few books, and although it helps me get speaking gigs, and interviews....I've never used it to get upgraded to First Class.

How would you even do that? Carry your book around and just show it to everyone? I've read Bauer's book, and he's a very sharp (and interesting) guy. And I heard Dan Kennedy say something similar. But I have no idea how that would work. Interesting question.

  • Most authors will never make much money from their book. Think of it as the focal point of your platform. Leverage it into speeches, media interviews, sponsorships, coaching, seminars, etc. In other words, the book is the front end. The big money is on the back end.

Treat it like a business card. Hand them out everywhere you can afford to. Always have a copy with you. Work your hometown like you are the mayor. Speak everywhere. Become known locally as the go to person in your niche using your book as your manifesto. Then the region, state, etc. Become the best publicity rep you ever had.
