Obnoxiously Huge QR Codes

I bet if someone had the motivation they could build a Obnoxiously Huge QR Code, like a billboard but bigger and rent it to a business in the town off the highway?

Anyone ever seen this done?

      Have a friend who builds them out of rubik's cube pieces and sells them to children related niches like toy stores and daycare centers along with a mobile site of course.

      I've seen them on several full-sized billboards. In fact, one of those billboards not far from where I live is located only about 50 yards on the other side of a blind curve, where the speed limit is 55mph. Pretty dumb move for the business that put a QR code on that one, as you literally only have about 2-3 seconds between the time you see the billboard and the time you drive past it. Doh!

            I agree, that is like saying clickable links are a joke, well they can be, but you cant just put them places and expect people to use them...you need to give them incentive to use them or make them curious..

            I know exactly what you are talking about. I've see them polyurethaned into tabletops next to ads that give the ad readers no incentive to scan them. They are unattractive and easy to ignore. That is why businesses don't use them: marketers don't know how to use them to engage customers. Shelley

        Yeah I was speaking of something massive on the most boring stretch of highway...be easy to do in Oklahoma but probably would end up in OZ after tornado season.

      You do know all you urbanites out there you could project a qr code onto any non-residential building after hours with a high lum projector, probably could sell that as a promotion or promote your own services.

          I don't think so you just cant be a public nuisance but you can shine light on anything you want as long as its not bothering someone.

      Sorry - I missed this. I wrote QR Code Mastery and included a photo from Mission Hills in which they stuffed red and white umbrellas into the hands of golf event participants and lined them up into a huge QR Code on a fairway.

      I, too, speculated on whether some developer would build a community in the shape of a QR Code you could read from space.

      Now that people have sent up mobile phone satellites, who knows what crazy stuff marketers will come up with?

    I got into a discussion here about QR codes a year ago. I said they are useless. I still feel that way. I know people who want to put them on everything.

    I hosted a large event with several hundred people a few months ago. Another organizer wanted QR codes all over the place to enter into a free small class that lasted 6 weeks. This was a highly specialized mentoring class that was very relevant to these mostly high-tech startups. Not even ONE person used the QR codes to sign up.

    I remain fully skeptical. They just are not practical at all.
