How can your bank take checks without signature?

We are using EZ Check Printing software to print out checks for clients to pay us. I called our bank (TD Bank) to ask before we started taking them and they said it would be fine. When I went to the bank I was told they could not accept it because there was no signature.
I know plenty of people on here say printing checks is the way to go, but how do you get around no signature.

Wow that's very surprising! It is technically up to the banks descretion to accept check drafts like that. But that's if they suspect fraud.

Did you speak to the manager or just the teller?

Actually it is the law, they have to accept it.

In the signature line, use the custom text setting, 1, and 2, to place this in the signature line:
This check is authorized by your depositor
      No Signature Required

The only reason they can not accept a check draft is when they aren't using the optical readers and are using the old MICR readers. I have never had that problem, but the solution is to just get MICR ink. The problem you had is probably due to not having ANYTHING in the signature line.

To be perfectly honest, I have lower sales, more headaches, and higher overhead. LOL.

I suck at hiring people, I suck at firing people, I suck at teaching people... I'm generating plenty of incoming calls but my people aren't where they need to be so a lot of good leads are blown. With them cold calling they're generating decent leads but it is difficult to keep good people.

I have a lot of learning to do. I expected some learning experiences needing to happen once launching but kind of thought I'd be ahead of where I am. At least we're hitting a minimum of 13% growth each month, but I still kind of thought the first few months would be much higher than that.

It's not easy by any means. As I'm sure you have figured out, there is a HUGE difference between being an independent consultant and a full blown company.

Building a name, rep, and client lists is easy. Building a stand alone business requires an entire different set of skills.

Not that you're seeking advice, but coming from someone who is currently going through exactly what you're going through right now...

Setup a THOROUGH teaching program (IMO this is the single most important step)

And don't be scared to hit the hiring and firing hard. I probably hired over 100 people to get 3 good ones (ones that met my standards) I have 'wasted' tons of money to get them, but that's how the game works.

By no means am I an expert, or trying to tell you what you should do. Just giving a fellow offliner some ideas based on my personal past and current experiences.

            Good luck my friend

Never have problems with my bank. Take a copy of a signed auth. form to the bank with the check and have them put a memo on your account. As long as it's a business account, there should be no reason they can't deposit it into the account..

But you legally do need to have an auth form if you are processing your own checks.

Or you could save a few headaches and switch to ACH. It doesn't take too many payments to make the small fee worthwhile.

OK, thanks for the input (everybody). I will try putting that on the signature line AND getting an authorization form. Hopefully this will work.
